Great quality product but be careful not to be dissapointed!

I give 5 starts because throw-off is really good. It is made very nicely, great quality and works perfect. With P85 I had constant problem with strings loosening up during play - tension screw in P88 is "jump" regulated so it will not move anywhere.

The problem is in description of the product and I hope that also Thomann will correct it.
It says: "Ludwig P88AC Throw-Off, Throw-Off & Butt-Plate Pack, fits all snares with former P83/P85/P86 throw offs" which gives the buyer the impression that the whole pack will fit to your Ludwig snare with either mentioned throw-off on it. The true part is only about the throw-off.

My Ludwig Acrolite has a P85 throw-off and P32 butt-plate. P88 throw-off was mounted with no problems, but the butt-plate from the P88AC pack (P35) replaces only P33 butt-plate (this is actually writen on the product box!) - it has completely different hole spacing than P32.

So for this I am only able to use 50% of the prodcut (unless I will make new holes in the shell), so I am only 50% satisfied with the prodcut, but as said - this is offer description problem, not the product itself.

Simple, solid, smooth.

Very well constructed from cast parts. Fits perfectly as a replacement for my supraphonic's P85. Super solid with no play in the moving parts and the throw off is as smooth as silk. The snare adjustment knob is geared, much like a torque wrench so there is no chance of it loosening during playing.
The fact you also get the butt plate makes this good value for money, and the art deco look makes any drum look classy.
Only very minor criticism is that on the supraphonic I had to file the screw holes slightly to accommodate the new screws but this only took 1 minute & was easy to do.

It's just perfect.

No fancy half done features, just solid design + nice vintage look. One of the best throw-offs on this planet! I also really dig the Wave-Lock technology.

Beware: the shipped counterpart (the butt-plate) won't fit to a Ludwig Acrolite 90's snare, unless you want to drill another hole.
