Good budget crash for different genres
Anonymous 13.05.2014
Bought this crash to use it together with its 16" brother, and they pair perfectly, but from both of them I prefer the 16" one.

I needed a crash that would be on a budget and would be suitable for different genres of music. However, I don't feel that this would be the best choice for metal, which would demand bit thicker tone. One thing that it lacks a little bit is punch. It feels that the crash spreads sound over the room, it has a wide quality to it. Just missing the attack or blast at the moment when I hit it.

Have been using this cymbal for nearly a year in rehearsals and live shows without any issues. I am happy what I got for the money and I recommend this to others, who need a good crash on a budget for playing different styles of music. Can not go wrong with Meinl.

Just enough cut
Anonymous 27.01.2016
Hi,
As I recently got into playing heavier music, I found myself lacking volume when playing with my band. I tend to have a softer touch so I decided to buy larger size cymbals to compensate :P This 18" Classics is perfect for metal drummers as it has enough cut, great tone, and the durability / price is not to be underestimated when we all know crashes tend to break often.

The sound is great, compared to my 16" Byzance medium, it doesn't have the harshness and body, but more of the explosive high pitch and shorter sustain you would look for in a metalcore / extreme metal context.

I am already planing on buying a 17" inch medium, so I can move the 16" Byzance on the far right.
