I bought a few Meinl Byzance cymbals because I was attracted to their crisp sound and fast decay. At first I was a bit dubious about their dry/darkness because I play in a rock band and thought i'd miss the brightness, however they cut in the mix and sound great in both the studio and in a live situation. If you want a full-bodied sound which makes the point without ruining the balance with washy cymbal sounds, I definitely recommend this cymbal!

It's awesome

This cymbal is great in every aspect.
It's really thin so it opens up immediately and you can play it with hands quite good too.
The sound: it still sounds like a crash cymbal but has trashy china-like quality to it. The bell sound isn't too loud and articulate and it's not quite usable as a ride cymbal too as it's more an accent/effect cymbal.
It looks really vintage like its been played for years. This ads up to the uniqueness of the sound.
It works really well in different genres of playing (rock, metal, jazz, etc.)

I love my Extra dry thin crash. I had the 18'' model and now the 19'' one. The sound is so unique but exactly what i wanted. And so good looking.
