An explosive China with a dark and dirty character.

This Meinl Byzance extra dry China cymbal is a unique china with a dark, dirty sound that has a wide spectrum of frequencies. An explosive attack due to the medium weight and the partial lathing.

Extra Dry cymbals have big hammer marks which-in combination with the untreated, natural finish-enable an extremely dark sound with a short sustain. They exhibit dominant lows with an esoteric character.

This Meinl Byzance China cymbal is completely hand-hammered into shape and satisfies the highest demands of its users. Every Byzance cymbal is a piece of art and has its own unique sound characteristics which can never be duplicated.

Extra dry means extra awesome if you enjoy some dirt in your China. Order today. 110% happy with my purchase. I recommend this particular China for anyone who's looking for that unique low end cymbals that cuts through with swift response. Fantastic for recording.

It sounds (and looks) like no other china: it is dark, ominous and dirty, a sound so complex and exotic that defies description. A vigorous stroke on the lip produces an explosive response, followed by a deep roar that decays very fast, without the clanginess usual in chinas. But the cymbal is equally amazing as a ride, generating very different sounds depending on where you hit it, how hard you hit it and with which part of the drumstick you hit it.
Comparing it with two other (outstanding) Meinl Byzance chinas that I own, it is faster than the Dark China 18 (due to the lathed underside and the lighter weight) and less clangy than the Extra Dry China 16. When used as a ride, it has less stick definition than the Dark China 18.
The sound palette is so rich and the cymbal is so responsive that it can fit any music genre, from jazz to metal. It is thin for a 20 inch china, but one doesn?t need to strike it hard to produce a loud and full sound.

The king of china's.

I was looking for a china that was powerful but traditional and earthy sounding, this china fulfilled these exact criteria.

I use it for metal, but can be used in most other genres to get that almost gong - like sound.

I've had this as my main china for over a year now and given it a beating everyday playing metal and the durability is proving to be amazing as well! No signs that it will be breaking anytime soon.

I can't think of any cons, it fits its purpose, it sounds great and looks great.
