I bought these along with the LP 212R claves for some variety. The sounds on the Thomann site are OK to give an impression but will never truly reflect having them in your hands. You get two distinct tones from playing over the scalloped section and then towards the end. Compared to the LPs, these for me have a reasonable balance though feel a little light, in particular the smaller 'beater'. In my opinion they have a relatively hollow sound and just didn’t cut the mustard for me. They do offer a lighter shade than the heavier LP 212Rs, but LPs win hands down for me. In short, The Meinls don’t have many outings unless the LPs aren’t in the building.

Well made, sounds great!
George Konstantine 31.12.2014
This is so very well made and sound great (loud, crisp, nice tone) for such an inexpensive item! They are used regularly in an African rhythm group, and there is no problem with them being heard. The quality is good enough that it should last for years.
