There are three main sound sources in this drum: the bottom (when you fill it with water), the hole and the drumhead.
My favorite sound comes from the bottom when filled with water. This works very very good and is a beautiful addition to many of my musical compositions and sounddesign.
The holes (typical udu sound) is good enough. But I prefer I real clay udu for this type of osund. So if that's your main goal, then I would not recommend this instrument.
The drumhead is not very good quality imo. It feels very thin and I would not be surprised if in a year or so it would start sounding floppy. Although it gives some nice extra possibilities.
All in all an instrument I don't regret buying. I use it a lot for the water-sounds. And this it does very well!
One more point: the bottom-ring is not suited for this instrument. It is too light and it offers too little friction. So I advise buying something else to use as your bottom-ring or adjusting the ring with some extra rubber or other friction-material.

Deep Bass, beware of humidity
Der Tanzbär 10.02.2021
Really nice sounds, deep bass and crisp drumhead and also the lowest piece can be drummed on as well. BUT you got to watch out for humidity because it leads to your drumhead becoming loose as a goose! this leads to really bad sound of the basstone and makes it unplayable UNTIL you dry the skin (I have used a hairdryer) So beware of which room this instrument is placed in! if it stays dry- the sound is great, if its wet, no muy bueno!
