This unit comes with no manual, only a quick start booklet.
So, you'll need to be quite intuitive cos not much is obvious.
Connecting to the tablet for the firsttime is a bit confusing.
I bought this to use with small bands, as a guitar vocalist and with top end backing track tribute shows...
Track Player:
The track player will only play wav files ie; MS windows ones.
Anything else won't appear in the window. Not Mp3 or AIFF files or anything else - so if you're working with people who supply their tracks on a stick beware - make sure they've got genuine wav files - it took a lot of time and faffing to get this right. The tracklist window is tiny - and the tracks are sorted alpha numerically so you have to label each track with a number - single no's need to be like '01' - or else the second track will be 11.. before number 2. The tracks do autopause but don't cue thenext track - you have to do this manually
The person who designed this has never performed on stage or consulted anyone who has.. the player works ok apart from that. The USB channel has eq and a fader.
The envirnoment is reasonably organised and simple.. but it takes a bit of time to become familiar with it. Each channel has a gate, compressor, eq and you assign up to four reverbs on each channel. The EQ is parametric and impressive and fully functional - you can adjust just about evrything on them and there are some high quality nice sounding modules to choose from. The compressors are fairly straight forward and subtle.
As I said the unit comes with no manual - couldn't find one on the midas website but I'm sure it's there... I contacted tech support who responded innitially within 24 hrs - had not much to say about the files for the player - I mean, why design a player that only plays one type of file??? Stupid.. After that.. they started ignoring me.. so...
Apart from that the sound is good - very clean and surprisingly warm for digital..
The unit has so much potential and is tiny - perfect for if you fly a bit.. reduces your gear lift..
I was very disappointed with the player and tech support..
but the software can be developed and the staff can be replaced.. hopefully.. where there's a will..
This could be a game changer for small bands and tracked performers.. nearly there.
