Great little amp.
Painy 08.02.2015
I recently ordered this headphone amplifier mainly for our drummer to use at gigs as on several of the songs that we play, we use keyboard backing tracks and he plays to click tracks. We had been using a small guitar practice combo to run his headphones but were looking for something more compact to do the job and found this on the Thomann site at a really good price.
One thing I was concerned with when ordering was that the supplied power adaptor was a 2 pin European mains plug but I am in the UK. Fortunately, Thomann automatically provided a UK 3 pin mains adaptor free of charge!
When I opened the box there were 2 things that struck me straight away. One was just how small and compact this thing is - not much bigger than an old caste tape case. The other was the build quality for the price - aluminium casing with sturdy plastic end caps. The 4 simple volume knobs controlling each of use 4 separate channels have a smooth operation and are clearly centre dettented as well.
Having now tried it at a gig it performed really well too. It gave a strong enough output that our drummer could hear the click track clearly through standard headphones even over our very loud band. He was also very happy with the clarity of the sound.
I have since tried using this as a practice headphone amp by plugging my bass guitar in directly and it worked perfectly.
Overall this is a great little unit for an unbeatable price. The ability to puree it from a battery rather than mains only would have been a useful feature but I guess it would have put the price up and the value for money is one of its strong points.
Highly recommended!

Great amp for the money
Anonymous 10.03.2017
I bought this headphone amp for my project studio to send the headphone mic from my DAW to the live room for drummers and vocalists. It's proven to be very reliable and sturdy despite its low price.

Pros:

1. Very strong metal housing. This is not some cheap plastic that will break easily. This unit can take a beating and it will still work like a champ.

2. Comes with detachable rubber feet that help the amp to stay in place and not slip away. The rubber also helps to prevent it from damage, if dropped.

3. It can produce very high volume - it's suited even for very loud drummers.

Cons:

1. Somewhat flimsy volume knobs, although I doubt that they would break easily or stop functioning.

2. It has some self-noise - a little hissing can be heard from the unit, although it is not a problem once music starts playing.

Summary:

It is an excellent unit for the price. I would definitely get another one if I lost this. Highly recommended, especially for beginners.

A true keeper!
Beverley 17.05.2013
I bought this headphone amp to replace the one that I misplaced, being a student I usually buy on a budget so this was perfect for me with the low costs but high quality product. Consider this if your looking for a headphone amp, you won't be disappointed. I have owned both this and the Behringer HA400 however prefer this product due to its more stable build, exterior protection and overall look. Highly recommended for those who need a simple quiet practice solution or for a quick solution for sending backing tracks to drummers headphones / in-ear monitoring. Out of the two I would recommend this as the superior quality headphone amp

Overall:
Good Build
Lasting Quality
Cheap Price
Well Protected
Rubber surround ensures it stays put - less likely to be knocked over

Don't hesitate to buy with confidence.

Good price, good product, great deal.
White Ship Caused the Anarchy 20.08.2018
I am using this along with my Scarlett 2i2 Studio Pack for my travel studio setup. It is very useful went you want to work with someone together for example when you are tracking or when you want to work silently on a project

The thing is very robust with dials that just feel incredibly high-quality. The side bumpers also help to confirm the robust nature of this unit.

It is easy to use, simply connect a line-in cable to the output of the unit you are connecting and the input of the headphone amplifier, connect your headphones and off you go.

Only design flaw I find is that the knobs are in a position on the unit that makes it impractical when chucking it into a bag. I think it would have been better to put them on the side so the unit isn?t so bulky.

Great price and does what it says on the tin
steevm 11.12.2019
I bought this because I sometimes have friends over for recording sessions. I wasn't previously able to monitor singers while they were singing, as I only have one headphone output. I wanted an easy solution that would allow me to monitor the recordings in realtime. I didn't want to spend much, because 95% of the time, I only need one headphone output for myself.

This box not only solves that problem, but also allows the singer(s) to set their headphone volume independently. I prefer to monitor at low volumes; many singers like to turn the volume up high. There's no need to compromise, as everyone gets their own volume knob and can set it to whatever is comfortable to them.

The knobs seem pretty decent, especially given the price. Mine are firm and feel good when you turn them. Other than the 4 knobs, there's not really much to the device. It does what it says on the tin, and that's it.

If you are looking for a cheap way to allow up to 4 musicians to monitor the *same* signal through headphones, you probably can't go wrong.

no nonsense

It's sturdy enough (though the sockets may not be the most durable type... only time will tell), it's simple and straightforward, it does the job of driving four headphones from one signal. It can also be used to boost a weak line signal. If you need something cheap yet reliable, this is it. If you need something compact of portable, this could be it too, but keep in mind it needs external power. A wall wart is included in the box.

An amazing piece of equipment
dominikos 17.02.2019
I've bought it after my musical engineer friend recommended. That should say it all. For this price point, it punches way above its weight. The quality is very good. I am not disappointed by my high expectations from the sound quality.

The build quality and looks is, on the other hand, according to price. Still it works normal despite the looks.

C
best vfm splitter
Constantine2k 18.02.2023
This product is very well built. I didn't actually need an amplifier I just got it because I wanted a splitter solution for my home studio and it works great for that. although it's not the best amp you can buy, it goes very loud without distorting the image of the sound so much. If you need a splitter it is very much worth it I wouldn't buy it for my primary amp system though. all and all worth the 20-something bucks that it costs.

Where is the bass?
Anonymous 05.11.2014
I'm not an audiophile, quite the contrary, I feel that whole industry is full of voodoo and placebo. Nevertheless, plugging my Beyer DT-700 or Audio-Technica AT-M50 into this amp makes it sound like there's an 12 db/octave hipass filter @80 hz compared to just plugging the phones directly into my RME interface. Useless for judging lows when mixing, which I need headphones for in my small home studio.

On the pro side this amp provides huge levels and is good for tracking! I like the ergonomics as well, it just makes me wonder what tech hurdles has to be overcome in order to accurately pass low frequencies!
