out-STAND-ing

bought this product to extend my regular keyboard stand. to give it a second tier.

product fits most keyboard stand in the 'X' format and is very very easy to attatch.

i found the extender super easy to add to my keyboard stand. took me a while to figure out exactly howto do it. but once i'd figured out i had to remove the rubber bits of my stand. it went on like a dream
110% would recommend this stand extension to anyone who is looking to add a second tier to their keyboard set up.

N
Works great in my setup
Notsarty 13.05.2021
I use this extension to "link" two x-stands and have an upper keyboard while playing standing. Varying the distance between the lower stands solves the problem of the limited adjustability that you may face if you play seated. Also, you can improve the stability by having the braces tilted to the side. In the upgright position, they swing quite a bit if you play heavy.

Pros:
- Low price
- Stable, at least in my application

Cons:
- Cheap build: one of the screws is scraping against its hole, even when loose and not mounted.

In conclusion, I would suggest giving it a try and see how it works on your setup. Worst case scenario,Thomann's aftersales service is always on point.

EDIT: After a couple of months of reharsing 3 days a week, one of the threaded holes has broken. I had to replace the tightening screw with a slightly bigger one, otherwise it would not clutch on the stand.

RB
Does the job but could be better
Raimonds Blums 31.12.2017
I bouth this for my 49 key midi keyboard that weights 3 kg and while the stand does hold it up securely there are a couple of problems (at least with mine):

1) my keyboard doesn't sit flat. I fixed that with a little bit of padding on one corner
2) I wish the vertical posts could be taller. it doesn't make sense, since normally a keyboard stand would be set-up quite wide and because of that the vertical posts of this extension would have a narrower angle resulting in less vertical height
3) those plastic things that hold the keyboard from sliding down aren't mounted in the same angle and one is not holding my keyboard at all, but since I use the midi keyboard very lightly it's not that big of a deal for me.
4) maybe I didn't notice but I'm pretty sure that the nuts for those bolts that you use to mount it to a stand were missing

All in all, for the price and for what I need it works great!

JD
Inexpensive Solution
Johnny Drama 03.01.2021
It's good, no doubt about it, but it seems as if many people, including myself, may have had to be a bit rough with it to make it work. I use it to stand a Korg on top of a Roland FP4, and it hasn't moved since installation. It didn't quite fit properly so I had to get out the hammer and make some slight adjustments, but overall I would recommend it as a good option. I haven't taken it on the road yet so I cannot comment on its durability on tour. Inexpensive and definitely worth the money - but you may have a tough time getting it on your keyboard stand.

Impossible to fit properly on any stand
L'orteil à l'air 07.04.2021
I was planning to use this extension maily in rehearsal and live, to fit my Prophet or midi keyboard on top of my Nord Stage.

The build quality is pretty low, but that was expected at this price range.

The extension does not fit on larger double-X stands. I had to use a smaller, less stable one in order to fit this extension. But even then, it is impossible to have the 2 arms well aligned so that the top keyboard sits in place. There is always a gap and it is extremely uncomfortable to play when the keyboard is constantly bouncing up and down.

I have tried really hard fitting this extension on several stands and it was never stable. I do not recommend this to anybody for any use.

P
Very restrictive
Pmar 09.06.2023
Bought with the Millenium stand. Went on easily but needed three hands to set it. It is not wide enough to use when the stand is wide open for a seated person, the arms are at an angle pointing inwards so the supports on the front do not nod the upper keyboard very well. May work better for a standing performance where the lower stand is not set so wide. My Yamaha keyboard on top has gaps on the underside to I've had to put a pad under it to stop it wobbling. Very difficult to level as the teeth, which stop it from slipping, are fixed.

Good but but does not inspire confidence at all for expensive equipment
SeranoPartida 05.06.2024
Good for adding some midi controllers or a simple keyboard, or some score books etc, but I would not trust it to put expensive or/and heavy equipment on this, not that much stable.

D
Price vs. Quality
David2054 25.02.2014
I needed a solution to stack my Stagepiano with a Mini-Synthesizer, so I bought this realitve cheap solution. I use it with the Millenium KS-2010 and it was easy to mount the Millenium KS-2010 Ex on it. It's stable and doesn't move if you locked it, but it's a little bit annoying, that you've got three "Fixpoints". Also it doen't have a Quicklock for previous settings, so you have to adjust it every time. Further you have to get it exactly parallel, because if one of the legs isn't as the same height as the other, your keyboard is going to wiggle while playing, very annoying. But after a while you're going to habituate with it. So it's a cheap, stable solution, though, I wouldn't buy it again.
