I bought a Shure SM58 and simply wanted an arm stand for it. This option was inexpensive and seemed like it would fit the bill, so here we are! I've had this arm for 6 months, so I hope my long-term use is useful to some.
The good:
- The quality is decent. The metal is quite sharp in some places, but generally it feels sturdy enough. The clamp to the desk has never needed tightening or adjustment in the past 6 months, so that gets a good grade!
- Swivel options are fine. It's quite flexible and allows you to tighten both the mic section and the table clamp section. I have needed to re-tighten these several times a month, so they seem to be quite bad at staying tight (depends on your use though)
The bad:
- Arm likes to flop down randomly sometimes. This seems to be a common issue, but you do get what you pay for in the end.
- Sometimes it can also be hard for the arm to stay down! This is clearly down to the tension of the springs, but it can really be quite erratic on occasion.
- Cable management is non-existant. You can't expect every feature for such a cheap price!
If you need something cheap I would still recommend it. Personally I will be upgrading to a more expensive arm eventually. It's pretty good for the price, so I would say if you can't afford anything else, it's definitely still a good product!
