Round base.

Great and handy, This easily handles a 1/2 boom (cut the boom down y'self), and I can stand closer to the mic w'out tripping over the usual 3 legs.

I play guitar too and have no problem with this mic & acoustic or electric guitar. Its a space saver for me with a sometimes 7 piece band on usually small stages.

I have a "Mic stand mounted monitor" (SRM 150) for bigger venues, this particular stand is a bit unstable with the monitor on top, so I keep my old folding 3 legged mic stand just for this, or there's usually a sound guy with floor monitors at bigger venues.

I always assemble this type of mic stand with "loctite" thread locker on the parts that need it, saves me chasing the mic round & round. "You must, please" super glue the little rubber feet into the Iron base, or they will fall out somewhere at a gig last week, lost forever & these stands are very susceptible to "stage rumble" & feedback without the rubber feet. Also being "unfoldable" & pretty heavy, other bands don't seem take them by mistake.

The round base rolls around in the back of my van if I lay it down, so I stand it upright on its rubber feet to avoid the rolling.

Bars, small venues, Massive concerts, this is great. I love mine and the comments "vintage mic stand" really do the trick.

10 years in use - still a great stand
jkt 14.04.2018
I ordered this stand from Thomann in January 2008. It's now April of 2018 and I still have it, still use it. It's a very solid, reliable stand.

That said, i'm not taking it on the road with me - it sits in my studio, as the base is a bit too unwieldy and heavy to be an item I happily stow away and bring along to gigs.

That heaviness is what makes it so perfect for the studio though. It's a solid piece of equipment that isn't going to be knocked over by a tap of the elbow. The heavy base will keep it anchored on the ground.

The height adjustment mechanism appears to be working just as well now as it was when first got it. I'm a little surprised by that, as I would normally expect the plastic of that handle to degrade more than it has in that time.

All in all, a great mic stand. I hope to still be using it in 10 more years!

RC
Great Budget Stand - With Minor Faults
Rohan C 11.06.2018
I bought 4 of these stands to be used for a variety of small shows and events.

The locking mechanism is good, maybe not excellent, but it does work very well for the price paid for certain. A simple twist and you are able to raise and lower the stand with very little effort.

The base itself is great with regards to weight and shape, however its stability is compromised by the three small feet on the bottom, which mean that weight is not evenly spread, but in fact is balanced across a very small triangle on three very small feet. This does mean the stand can on occasion feel unstable when handling it and moving it, nothing to worry about, just something to be aware of if you are the kind of person who likes to move around with your stand.

The supplied thread adapters are great, super useful and work well, with a slot for a flat head screwdriver in the bottom in case you lose it inside a mic clip. The tightening ring is a must, if you take it off it's very likely the pole will slip inside the other and it may get stuck.

For the price, this stand is great.
it's basic, occasionally a tiny bit wobbly, but does the job it's meant to do at a highly affordable rate.

Stable, no fuss.

Use it mostly for a karaoke setup. Super important not to have 3 legs sticking out as trip hazards. Even with the occasional knock it stays upright. Great that it comes with thread size adapter. Just about 5cm too tall at lowest setting to support really young singers, but a mini boom arm from Thomann sorted that out. Would be great if it came with cable clips.
