I bought these for home rehearsal with mesh batter heads and standard resonators. The mid-high frequencies put out by these were such that I couldn't hear a thing I was doing with the drums themselves, and they left me with temporary hearing damage for a while after a fifteen minute session. The problem is much more obvious on the hats than the others, but all cymbals are far too obnoxious for me. In many respects, they are 'louder' than 'real' cymbals, to my ears, most likely due to the squealing frequencies involved.
I decided to go for another very popular premium brand and they are much better! I can hear what I'm doing on the drums just fine and can use them without ear protection quite comfortably.
The Millenium cymbals, while cheaper, do offer a close representation for the feel of 'real' cymbals, but I'm sad to say that there is where all plus points terminate for me.
As it stands, I have this set of cymbals doing nothing now and I'm not all that keen on the idea of even giving them away... so I might turn them into a work of 'modern art'.
