I bought the tulipwood version as this wood has a beautiful tone. It is more characterful than boxwood without the harshness in the upper register of grenadilla. The warmth in the tone than makes this model suitable for ensemble and solo playing. I oiled mine upon receipt and then left it to absorb overnight as the wood looked very dry. I'm still getting to know my new recorder but so far I am pleased with my purchase.
