Versatile wah - great sound
Alexander aus N. 19.02.2014
The features on this wah pedal made want to have one immediately. I used to play Morley wah pedals because of their convenient switch (i.e. step on it and go), but I wasn't quite happy with the sound. With the MXR MC-404 I can actually get the "normal" wah sound which is, at least to my ears, still the best for clean sounds AND I can also have a wah sound that works really well with hi-gain sounds. Since I am using the higain channel on my amp most of the time, I really dig the red setting of the wah. Additionally, the boost switch is another great feature on this pedal (mine is usually on to deliver some extra kick!). I have been playing 20+ gigs with this pedal now and I am very happy with the way it holds up, can't complain about the quality.

The only thing that is bothering me is that is hard to turn off/on the mini switches on the lefthand side when the pedal is on a pedal board. This takes away the versatility in live situations.

LZ
In my top 5!
Leon Z. 01.10.2020
This one ranks among the greatest for me, right up there next to the Real McCoy Picture Wah, Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, Xotic Wah & Dunlop Bonamassa Wah. The options make it a killer in the studio and the funkiness on the cleans got me from the get-go.

ES
Unbelievable quality and sounds.
Emilia S. 09.09.2014
As you plug this, you smile. I couldn't believe the difference between this and a "normal" dunlop crybaby. Astonishing difference in the quality of sound. Expecially if you're recording i nstudio, this is like having all the wah options in one box, which makes it really worth the money in a long run. Avoid having other wah until you try this one. The boost knob also colors the sound slightly, but it a way that really makes you smile, again! I also like the fact that I FINALLY have a led to know if the baby is on or off in live situations. Great pedal, worth ALL the money in my opinion, one of the best pedals available on the market today. I would only have put an even bigger led to signal if the pedal is on or off, as it might be confusing initially to discern if the on/off led or if the feasel yellow/red led is on. Apart from this really minor detail, if you're looking for a quality wah which is also a boos and gives you a wider palette of tones, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

J
great addition to my gear
JJj 27.02.2014
This wah-wah lets you chose between red or yellow Fasel inductor. Difference in sound is very distinct and I like both options. So this is really a killer feature to me.
It also features internally adjustable "Q factor" separately for both coils, but I cannot tell much about that, because I have not tested it thoroughly yet. Certainly it seems like nice thing to have.
Another great thing about this pedal is integrated booster (this is exactly what I needed). It can be easily used like a booster pedal (when it is leaved in down to switch position). But it needs to be mentioned that it colors the tone very much. I personally find it a good thing, but some people might want something neutral. When it is on yellow, the sound is bright, if you switch on in red, it gets darker and thicker. I can notice some difference in low frequency response compared to unboosted amp, but I don't see it as unwanted low frequency roll-off. It just makes my speaker cabinet sound less "boomy".
Few words about quality of the product: "long life CTS potentiometer" became very noisy soon after first use. Sent it back to Thomann for repair under warranty (by the way - I am very happy with the service - got it back quickly). Since then it works fine, but still remains a little noisy. The pedal is otherwise built solidly, replacement parts are available and it shall be easily serviceable..

H
The best wah pedal on the market
Heaventeo 06.01.2019
Yes it is. Why?
1. Reliable, becuse it is built with high quality components.
2. Tone. Yellow Fasel or Red Fasel, it has the best Wah tone.
3. Boost inside. How many times you had another Wah pedal and you had to switch on another boost pedal to play solos in front of the mix?
Now you have 2 in 1.Total appreciation for Mister Bradswaw.
It will make you happy 'till the end of your life.

D
Brilliant Wah, a contemporary take on a classic sound.
David1848 19.03.2015
I had previously been using a standard GCB95 wah before this but I was constantly finding that it was ruining the top end on my signal even with a dedicated buffer place before it. I bought this having heard generally excellent reviews. The multi-fasels was the main selling point for me when I was shopping for a replacement, the yellow fasel for me personally works best for distorted lead usage whereas the red fasel which I find myself using most is a little fuller sounding and works great on funk rhythms. The boost is also exceptionally functional especially for lead work I however find myself using it on its minimum setting all the time as it seems to brighten the signal slightly. Generally incredible build quality, amazing sound quality and extremely versatile, whats not to like?

A
One of the best wahs
Anonymous 01.12.2014
I really like this one. It's a keeper. Top quality stuff. I mostly use the Red fasel (opened the red Q trimpot all the way for really nice wide sweep). Sometimes use the yellow fasel when I like brighter sounding sweep, or to cut thru better (higher freq).
Mostly have the boost on a little. Boost is really transparent and great. It is easy to set the boost up some dbs without making high gain amp squeal.
Works good with other pedals, but note that If wah is used example in front of fuzz pedal, then the fuzz pedal should have good buffer (buffer should kind of mimic guitar signal) or your fuzz will squeel. Same might go with other distortion type pedals so check your stuff.
Something negative.. well it is a bit heavy and the bottom shape makes it difficult to use velcro and stick and really hold it on your pedalboard. I have used cable tie to stick it to mine.
I have used this wah a lot and it still looks and works like it's brand new.

B
The perfect rock wah
Bluesrockguy 29.08.2023
I have gone through a lot of wahs lately. This one is great. It has a wide sweep, doesn‘t have any odd break points, and sounds great clean or through dirt. The onboard booster adds another range of flexibility. It drives an amp or dirt pedal much like a Keeley Katana - adding punch, some volume enhancement or full-on drive. Using the wah cocked and using the boost as another gain stage opens a lot of possibilities. And finally, there are two different ranges - one theoretically better for lead and one for rhythm. But really it just means you have more opportunities to dial in the right tone for the right set of amp, drive, and guitar settings.

Really cool pedal.
