If you're buying 3-pin XLR connectors for on-stage audio use, and you're not buying NC3MXX, then I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no-one is going to take you seriously.
They are the only professionally used connector, hardwearing, good strain relief, colour coding rings you can change without taking the connector off, easy to solder, last a lifetime.
If it's installed in the back of a rack and never going to be touched again you could plausibly use a cheaper connector, but if it's going to be toured, set up and taken down again, stepped on by a clumsy musician, have beer thrown over it on a stage floor, then plugged into your lead vocal mic the next night there is no alternative.
