I am a composer for film and TV, an engineer in various studios, a session musician (Guitarist, Bassist, Mandolin, Ukulele etc) and a teacher.
I ordered these ends along with 100m of the Sommer cable to completely replace the XLRS for my QSC K12 PA.
Over time XLRS get stolen, broken or dumped on the todo pile to be resoldered and i figured it was time to replace the lot.
In all i was able to make 13 cables - 3 15meter and 10 6meter and they sound fantastic!
I played a wedding at the weekend and used all of the cables and I swear the PA sounded better (but difficult to tell)
The ends make a very satisfying click when plugging into the microphones and hold their grip well, no XLRs falling out with these bad boys!
I will also be creating sample libraries soon using these cables and ends to record a LOT of microphones for drums and these will do nicely. I will be using them for a mix of dynamic and condenser microphones, i have no ribbons but I'm sure they will suit these as well.
Pros:
The ends are robust
Easy to solder
Look awesome in black
Have a shiny rainbow Neutrik logo which is cool
Sound fantastic
A lot cheaper making your own cables than buying them already made
Learn soldering skills which are important as a musician
Cons:
The price means that the total cost of these adds up fast!
If you buy these you are going pro with your cables, they are honestly the best and everyone uses them for a reason. Go for it!
