I'll start by saying that the build quality and size of the device are perfect!
The main reason I've decided to purchase a launchpad was to make live looping in Ableton easier.
This allows me to do just that without additional bells and whistles of more expensive models such as larger velocity sensitive pads.
However some limitations are still noticable, biggest ones being inability to arm/disarm tracks in the default session mode and not being able to remove clips or record over them without a tedious set up in Ableton.
Another thing worth mentioning, not directly related to this device, is the lack of fixed length audio clips support (only "launchpad" that supports it is Push 2), so don't expect seamless live instrument looping with this device right out of the box as fixed length clips are not supported.
Overall it's a great piece of hardware that can be modified to do just what you want with some tweaking using third party software and inbuilt user modes.
