Pearl JG-16 Jungle Set Adapter

I got this conversion kit so I could set up my own custom 16" bass drum. NOTE: You NEED to have a Pearl ISS Tom Holder in combination with this. This is not a stand-alone product.

To be honest, I only have good things to say about this kit:
- No-Hassle attachment to the mount
- High-level build quality
- Sturdy as hell
- Legs (spurs) are as stable as the hardware on your drum AND they come with memory clamps to mark your preferred setup.

- Side note -
These are the products I used for my bass drum project:
- Millenium 16x16" Floor Tom
- Evans EMAD 16" Drum Head (make sure you choose correctly for wood or metal hoops depending on your preference!)
- Pearl JG-16 Jungle Set Adapter
- Pearl ISS - 1216 Tom Holder
Altogether a punchy little bass drum for only about 150 bucks. I am not endorsing/advertising any of the products listed, simply stating how I integrated this particular product into my setup. Hope this was helpful.

I wanted to create a mini-kit by converting my 14" tom into a small bass drum.

The JG-16 kit includes two legs that simply replaces two of the existing tom holder legs. They are solid, and have rubber feet. You can vary the angle of the legs sideways to achieve the desired height.

I also ordered the ISS-1216 mount because the tom holder on my kit is not compatible with the Pearl ones. The ISS solves that problem - the 1216 in the name indicates that it fit toms between 12" to 16". It simply clamps onto the tom rim by means of two retainer clips which are tightened with a normal drum key. Note that you only need the ISS mount if your tom doesn't use the Pearl mounting system.

Once in place, the JG-16 riser/bass pedal holder simply slots into the tom mount , and is tightened into place. Once that's done, you simply attach your bass pedal to it.

I tuned the tom very loose, at wrinkle point on the batter side, and barely finger tight on the resonant side. Much to my surprise I really like the result. It gives a nice defined attack, with a short boom. It works well with both the beater burried or off the head.

It was a very easy conversion, and will make it much easier to carry my gear around. It is also very easy to revert back to your normal tom at any time should you wish to do so. I used the third tom leg slot to add a short cymbal mount, negating the need for one extra stand, and ligthening the kit even further!

I am very pleased with the end result, it sounds and looks professional.

I bought this to use with my Pearl kit, along with the Gewa RIms. You will have to add about 2" of washers to the block to push out the base plate. very simple easy to do....just make sure you have 30-40 washers available.

I really don't understand the legs that they give with this. There is NO SPIKES and I have a heavy foot so I need spikes. I have again hacked it and sorted it my own way but that is a big let down on this.

All in all its worth the money and using the smaller bass drum has caused me no issues and saves me loads of room. I have a trigger on my bass drum but haven't needed to use it yet as engineers always get a good sound

I used the Pearl JG-16 Jungle Set Adapter with a 16 inch Tama Superstar Birch Floor Tom to switch it into a bass drum. Its a great product, unfortunately you have to buy the ISS Tom Holder System. I think Pearl should do it as a 1 product package.

As for the Adapter, it is good and easy to use and effective. Just the black tip of the feet always used to fall off easily, and had no spikes unfortunately.
The floor tom was never really stable on the floor, and there were times the floor tom would slide away from the kicking.

All and all, its a good product, but I would not give it a 5 stars.

I had a 16" floor tom, and with Pearl JG-16 Jungle Set Adapter I converted in a kick drum almost in one minute. The pieces are very sturdy, and after a few months of using it for gigging they haven't decline in quality. That's the good side of this pack.
A grey side, because, is not that bad, is that shut be include in the pack every thing you need to transform your tom into a kick drum. I could do fast because my tom was mount in a arm and has the attachment part, however, when I try to do with another tom, I could not do it, because it was missing that attachment part.
In general is a very good product, for a good price that let you transform your old drums in something new.
