Excellent Auxiliary Percussion Accessory
Anonymous 10.06.2014
The Pearl PPS37 is a very reliable unit for fixing a cowbell or other auxiliary percussion instrument to any upright stand or shaft. It has a very solid, robust construction and will stand up to the rigours of continuous gigging and setting up etc... The gear lock means it doesn't slip down from the angle you set it at, and the textured post means the instrument doesn't slip down from the height you set it at. If I had just one criticism it is that the horizontal section of the L-post is just a little bit too short. I use it to attach a cowbell to my hihat stand, and it just barely makes it out past the radius of a 13 inch cymbal. This means that I can't really use it with my 14 inch hihats, without the cymbal clipping off the side of the cowbell, when I open the hats. So it would be completely unusable in this manner if you prefer to use larger hihats, like 15" which are becoming more and more popular, particularly with Meinl users. Having said that, attaching a cowbell/jam-block to a hihat stand is not a hugely common thing to do, and you won't find it in many drummer's setups. It's just something I personally like to do, and it is just one of the many applications that this versatile accessory can be used for. I just think an extra four or five centimetres on the horizontal section of the L-post would make a world of difference, and that's why it gets four stars instead of five. But overall, it's an excellent piece of equipment, extremely durable, hugely versatile and above all very reasonably priced, particularly on Thomann! I use it 2 or 3 times a week, every week, including setting up, taking apart and transporting in a flight case with lots of heavy hardware, and it can take the abuse without any problem. Highly recommended.
