The speakers are generally ok. I bought them to be used as computer speakers. Before this I had some mid priced Logitech speakers from 2007.
After plugging in the Eris for the first time I immediately thought " Oh my god, the Logitech speakers are sooo good!" .. not kidding. I always loved the sound from those speakers -they were pretty flat sounding (I actually used them for mixing) except for the mids which were sweetend somehow. They were a joy to listen.
Now, Eris.
The mids are almost missing! I can't hear some things in songs .. some vocals in well known songs are harder to hear, also guitars etc. They sound very dry.
The bass is fantastic. It's really rich and full sounding. Good for any music. It doesn't eat the mids at all (i thought that at first).
The treble shoots out very clear. It's very good and pronounced and separates itself from other frequencies well. I have to lower the treble in my setup.
I use the Eris speakers with my Native Instruments Komplete 2 USB audio interface. They are connected with balanced TRS cables. I also bought a better speaker cable to connect both speakers. I Recommend buying a better cable than supplied.
Included in the box are all cables you need.
Bluetooth works very well. Signal from TRS mixes with signal from Bluetooth so you can hear both at the same time. TRS and RCA signals cancel each other out.
The speakers sound well overall. Everything is great except the mids. I just can't get around how badly it produces mids. It's like the output from 200Hz to 2000Hz is turned down.
Yes I tried lowering Bass and Treble knobs completely. This just makes it loose bass and treble also. The mids stay the same - dry dry and nowhere to be found. Actually Bass brings some needed warmth at 100Hz so I have to keep it up.
Oh and the hiss everyone is talking about.
There is an audible high frequency hiss which is present when the speakers are on. It's not that bad. I'm sensitive to noise but it doesn't bother me at all. And I have the speakers in my living room.
