For that price? Are you kidding?

If someone handed you your own guitar strung with these string for the first time, chances are that you'd thing these are the pure nickel strings you always used (unless you use any type of Fender wire ropes...).
For roundwounds my prefered brand is Dunlop, the sound, the tension, the durability, suit me perfectly, these Pyramid strings remind me of Ernie Ball strings, generally flexible wound strings, full sound, not dull, but with not much of the metallic character of other strings, which is totally expected from any pure nickel string.
I've put these in my Strat and Tele and they work just fine, no broken strings, no intonation or tuning problems, proper volume consistency from string to string, so great!

Just keep in mind that the package is not air-shielded, so if you buy a lot of packs keep them in a very dry box/drawer and they will stay fresh for months and months!

I don't intend to replace my favorite guitar's Dunlops with these, but I have a lot of guitars and also a small studio, so as I have found no issue with them, I can now have always fresh strings on my record-ready guitars and have some spare sets if a guitarist breaks a string or comes with dead strings.

Finally, note that these are not "cheap" strings, they are cheap at thomann because they are made in germany so no importing costs and extra taxes.

Good sounding nickels strings but the "green" Pyramids are better
TrEr 04.06.2021
I love pure nickel strings and these are no exception. However, I prefer the other Pyramid pure nickels strings in the green packaging, "Maximum Performance". I have no idea why they are different. They are both hex core and the same gauges. Maybe the core of the wound strings is a slightly different thickness? The green ones just feel nicer to me. They seem to have a slightly more supple feel and maybe just a tiny bit more clarity in the mids. But the green ones are also more expensive of course.

Still, these are great strings for a warmer, less metallic tone from the wound strings. They are also amazing value at the prices Thomann sell them for.

Recommended!

(I might add that I like the roundcore Pyramid Nickel Classics even better than the green ones but on some of my guitars I simply prefer hex core strings for practical reasons).

A Brand to keep an eye on!
nuferom 02.08.2017
Instant 5 stars in the price/performance department! Made me curious to investigate other Pyramid-branded sets in the future.
Picked these up to replace the standard 9-42s on a recently-acquired shortscale guitar, and so far it feels like they are not going anytime soon! Instead of the overly bright and flashy feeling you get from putting on new strings (and that vanishes in just a few days), these opt instead to give a hope of staying the same a bit longer than you'd expect.
The Elixir/coated aficionados will likely find my sentiments laughable, I know :)

Value for money, but...

These strings are great value but cheap comes at a cost. Manufacture is good, no tarnishing or poor feel out of the box. But soundwise, couldn't get to balance them. Plain strings sound with much more output than the wound strings, resulting in a quite unbalanced feel, especially the jump from D to G.

I started using these instead of D'addario 010's after first having used Pyramids round core pure nickel strings on some vintage guitars. A brighter sound and higher tension than the round core strings, I prefer these on humbucker guitars and my 'all round' guitars, whereas I prefer the round cores on vintage (-style) Fenders.

Compared to regular D'addario's these are somewhat similar but more consistent IMHO and slightly higher tension and with a stronger attack.

S
Sturdy, but Disappointing Sound
StoningRolls 12.09.2021
I tried in the past the Pyramid Extra Light set (008-038) and I was very happily surprised, as they had great tone and they were easy to play.

With this set, the Medium (010-046), I expected strings that would be tough, harder to play (i.e. bend), but with better tonality. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.

They do feel sturdy, keeping the tuning well, and they're of course harder to bend, being thicker. But sacrificing ease of play for sound quality was not worth it, because, quite simply, the sound is disappointing. At best, they're exactly the same as the Extra Light set. But I'd even say they're worse, with duller sound and disappointing hue.

They're not unplayable, of course, but I just don't see the point. Next time I'll prefer the Extra Light set again, which is an awesome bang for the buck.

Surprise!
Anonymous 31.03.2016
When I saw these strings I thought it was the usual cheap stuff. It was about 3,6 ¤. Then I noticed they were Pyramid, which is a fairly respectable brand, which I've already known. I picked a couple of sets and mounted them on my Les Paul. In terms of sound they really don't have nothing less then anything around (among popular brands). Very good sounding strings. They tend to be a little fragile, by the way. The E and the B strings broke after about 20 hours of playing. Furthermore, they are not the most comfortable strings ever. Anyway my advice is to buy more than one set at the time, because they can break. But the sound is incredible for the price. Still better than most of strings out there. And the price itself allows you to buy sets in large quantity. If you change strings quite often these are the strings for you: you'll get the most out of them.

Reliable, affordable & great quality
whitstableguitars.co.uk 29.09.2021
I run a small website in the UK and I get through probably 100 sets of strings a year. I have been buying Pyramid strings for around 7 or 8 years now & I find them utterly reliable. I also play in a band & to date have only had one string break during a gig. I like that they are individually wrapped. They have a bright clear sound & are extremely durable

Decent but should be packaged better
Paul592 29.08.2021
I was using these strings for gigging and busking for about a year so I feel I can judge them fairly now. They don't start out too bright and don't darken that much either which I appreciate. Obviously the price is on point too. The downfall is that the paper only packaging doesn't make for the best long term storage. I tend to buy strings in bulk and I've had a few rusty strings come of these. Anyways that's the only major downside, they sound good to me and for that price just get a set and see for yourself.

They sounded a bit dull, got rusty quite quick
virpul 13.04.2019
Was looking for cheap strings that I can put on some of my guitars which I don't play every day.

Usually I play D'Addario EXL110. These don't come very close, even when they were new they sounded pretty dull on my Telecaster.

Also, they got rusty really quick, in about 2 days.

Around the same time I also tried Harley Benton Valuestrings and those are cheaper and way better in my opinion, as far as cheap strings go.
