Remo 22" Pinstripe Clear Bass Drum

When I was choosing a drumhead for my bass drum, it was important for me to find something that was both high-quality and affordable. The Remo 22" Pinstripe Clear immediately caught my attention because it struck the perfect balance between reliability and reasonable pricing.

First and foremost I play rock music with a Ludwig kit and DW kicker

I found the head to be quite 'boomy' at first, I was more after a tight response.

Once I used a beater pad on the skin it shortened the decay drastically and really gave me the sound I was looking for. I also found the sound more to my liking using the hard side of the beater as that helped with the attack/decay sound I was after to rock music.

Quality was excellent, although I was user a beater pad, so this helped spread the impact of the head on each kick. Remo are a recognised brand mind, and all of their heads have always been superb for me

Remo got a reputation as being the go-to for drum skins. I think their marketing strategy over the years and their choice of endorsers has really worked wonders.
But, I am not convinced they're actually as good as people think they are.
Don't get me wrong, they are VERY good drum skins.
And, I would definitely use them (I sometimes do) in any setting.
But, there's just something a bit weird in the sound for me.
Some harsh high overtones that I simply hate. I don't have this problem with Evans at all.
But, yeah, Remo's are almost as good as they say they are.
But I prefer Evans for overall tone.
