Dry but full sound
Adrian866 20.04.2017
Tried this as a change to the Remo Controlled Sound clear dot that I usually use, in a search for less overtones and a drier tone with my rather ringy DW Design BNOB snare.

The Powerstroke 3 certainly delivers a drier sound, very controlled, but still with a good crack. I favour low to medium tunings, and the sound and feel is good. However, if you like a ringy tone, this may not be the best head for you.

So far, I would say that it is somewhat more hardwearing than the Remo CS, and will take a lot of abuse.

Overall I like it, but for some musical styles I would prefer a more open tone.

The only snare head I’ll use
SiriusBeats 09.03.2022
This is the only is the only head I will use on any of my snares. I change it roughly every couple of months I’m always go for the same head. The sound is punchy and controlled which is what i like.

Remo 14" Powerstroke 3 coated Snare

With this one, remo has made a long lasting versatile snare batter head. It suits pretty much for every genre. Also a good pick for someone, who does not change their drumheads often cause it maintains the tone for a quite long time. It also has a good price and quality ratio.

Depends on what you like - Less overtones or more
Anonymous 26.01.2016
When I bought the Remo Powerstroke 3, I was looking for something with a little less overtone for my steel Pearl snare drum. When I first tried this head I thought maybe not enough overtones from the drum. Fortunately for me, I run a open jam session every week and I get to hear other drummers play my kit from the audiences point of view. Very nice sharp crack to the drum. My only problem with the head is that it will sound great in one room and not so great in the next room without retuning, so from gig to gig I am doing a lot of retuning to get the drum to fit the room.

Perfect texture.
BigJust 28.10.2014
I am often playing with steel brushes and the texture on this drum head gives the perfect sound for me. I have been using the same head for 3 years now but it has only started to smooth over recently. I think it's good for at least 12 months of regular play. Even playing with sticks the head is tight and sharp.

Lovely skins

You can't beat a good remo skin and these powerstrokes are tasty. Lovely and crisp sounding, they sound even better after a couple of gigs. Good price fomr Thomann so we add a couple to our spares ordeers to save on shipping

Good control
Viktor W. 29.11.2013
It took me a while to find a snare batter head that I really liked. The Remo Emperor coated X dot is also really great, but I feel this head is a bit easier to control. I have a pretty ringy steel snare and this head does wonders getting a nice tone out of it.

The best a man can get!
Anonymous 09.06.2015
The best head you can buy in my opinion. I have been playing drums for 30+ years and have used these heads for the majority of that time, they just sound right to me!

Too deep
GuitarPlayerFromMinsk 26.04.2021
Great quality, but for my taste the sound of this Remo is too deep, not enough high tunes. I don't know why, maybe I'm just used to Evans. Still it's working great and I'm sure it's unbreakable.
