It's a nice idea however doesn't do the job you might imagine.
As the device, you would connect it to MUST be able to supply a small voltage of 2.7 volts for the connected SmartLav+ to work.
I got this connector thinking I would be able to use my SmartLav+ with normal TRS inputs, however, this is not the case.
I contact RODE about this and they confirmed the device you're connecting this SC3 to must also be able to supply a voltage for the mic to work as your smartphone does.
I have been recording and am trained as a sound engineer, and in my experience, there are not so many Line input devices that actually supply such a small voltage at their line/jack inputs.
So quite useless unless your Camera or Recording device can supply this voltage.
It also fails to work as a TRS to TRRS headphone output and doesn't work with my TASCAM DR100 mk1, AKAI MPC (Inputs), Mixer Inputs other the Spirit Folio, Mackie mixers, Tascam us 144 mk2, Focusrite Scarlet 244, etc etc
RODE has been very helpful with this and advised me to simply return the item as it won't work in the manner I desire. Also, this information is on the RODE website, so my bad for not looking at this in the first instance.
I would then also ask Thomann to ad this information to the description on this website as it is quite important for users or buyers to know.
