Roland Tone Capsule UB

I bought a Roland 'Ultimate Blues Tone Capsule' to go into my Roland Blues Cube Artist. It's a 1x12 combo amp with variable output power modes at 5w, 15w, 45w and 80w. You get the best out of most valve or valve-mimic amps in terms of tone, distortion and overdrive if you crank up the volume over (at least) half way. The variable outputs on a blues cube mean you can do this at the lower power levels and get a similar response with less noise production, but it is worth saying that at the lower outputs this works less well than at the higher ones! Of course the volume control on the guitar provides another variable.

Actually the amp sounds great without the capsule so why bother? Well, if you can get something that improves an already excellent piece of hardware then you probably would. I therefore spent some time looking at the various capsule options via online reviews and demos and opted for this one; mainly because I just liked the changes in tone and delivery that this one offered against the others - and it was a sound I preferred slightly to the original. But this is such a personal thing, please check out the options for yourself before you make the final decision.

It works well at all of the power modes and you can tell the difference, even at lower volumes. It is very easy to install, is small and tucks away neatly under the amp and is well protected from bumps and possible damage.

The bottom line is that it does change the tone and 'feel' towards a sound that I prefer - and for me that makes it worth it.

Rolands Blues-Cube-Verstärker emulieren gemäß firmeneigener Darstellung Fender Tweed-Amps mit 6L6 Endstufenröhre, gemeint ist wohl der Bassman. Die Ultimate Blues Tone Capsule soll den Blues Cube in einen Fender Deluxe Reverb mit 6V6-Röhren verwandeln.

Tatsächlich kann ich bestätigen, dass ich meinen geliebten Deluxe Reverb (DRRI) mit der UB Tone Capsule völlig zufriedenstellend nachstellen kann. Warum ich überhaupt den Blues Cube Stage verwende, wenn ich doch einen DRRI besitze? Weil ich es oft sehr zu schätzen weiß, dass er nicht nur leicht und robust ist, sondern auch bei wohnzimmertauglicher Lautstärke den fendertypischen Breakup-Sound liefert. Dazu wechsele ich meist noch nicht einmal auf den Overdrive Channel, sondern drehe vielmehr das "Volume" im Clean-Channel ganz weit auf.

Vergleich mit und ohne UB Tone Capsule:
Mit der UB Tone Capsule scheint der Clean Channel eine Spur dunkler abgestimmt zu sein, was mir sehr entgegenkommt. Auch nehme ich im Clean Channel noch mehr "Sag" wahr, also die mit scharfem Attack einhergehende Kompression. Dies fällt mir vor allem in den hohen Lagen auf und verhindert dort all zu schrille Töne. Sehr schön!

Jenseits klanglicher Nuancen stellt sich mit der UB Tone Capsule vor allem ein deutlich größerer clean Headroom im Clean Channel ein (super für alle, die den Amp als Clean Pedal-Platform verwenden). Andersrum ist die Verzerrung im Crunch Channel sogar noch stärker.

Fazit: Mir gefällt die UB Tone Capule in jeder Hinsicht!

PS: Ich spiele hauptsächlich Jazz und Jazz-Blues mit einer Gibson ES-339 oder Les Paul, seltner auch mit einer Fender Stratocaster.

Cette capsule produit un son plus doux,plus fin que sans capsule. Néanmoins pêchu le son semble plus détaillé plus défini.Bref différent.Je dirais un son plus propre et plus raffiné pour parlez comme en hifi.Maintenant veut- on toujours un pareil son avec un guitare électrique? Si on veut un son plus" sale" on retire la capsule et on met une pédale d'effets.Je l'utilise avec une Stratocaster Fender Deluxe, et un Blues Cube Artist.
En utilisant cette capsule UB on aura plus d'amplitude et de dynamique sur les positions 45w et max .
Bien sûr sans cette capsule le son du Blues Cube Artist est très bon.La capsule n' ajoute qu' une nuance.Quant au prix,à chacun de voir...

Après 7 mois d'utilisation:
Je confirme mon évaluation positive.J'utilise cette capsule en permanence maintenant .Non ,elle n'apporte pas une nuance ;avec elle on a un nouvel ampli bien différent.Très pêchu et soft à la fois.Moins" criard".Pour moi: plus beau.Je vous engage à l'essayer mais pas pour du hard rock.
