Great strings with a classic sound!
TrEr 21.05.2019
These strings aren't for everyone but personally I absolutely love them! If you're into British 60s/70s rock there's a good chance the bass player in your favourite band used these strings. They really SCREAM 70s British rock!

They do take some time to break in though, more than most other strings I've tried. The also break in very unevenly across the strings. And weirdly, the D+G lose that "new string" clank a lot sooner than the E+A. The lower strings actually stay clanky longer than the higher strings. This is the opposite of every other strings I've used. Really weird.

Once they've settled in they will be very smooth but still slightly brighter than most flatwounds. The lows won't be as thumpy as the typical old school flatwound. The mids... are just GORGEOUS! These strings have the most beautiful mids in any strings I've ever used!

The only con is that they can be really fatiguing for the hands. Stay away from the thicker gauges unless you've got really strong hands!

Apart from that I can highly recommend these strings for anyone looking for a classic British rock sound. But stay away if you want a "modern" sound with lots of zing. That's not what these strings are about.

Excellent for Fretless!!!
RainerMaria 11.06.2017
Bought them for a Fender Jazz fretless with active pickups and I couldn't be happier. Exactly what I was looking for. Deep, low growly bottom end and very well defined. Certainly not very bright. If you're looking for bright, you probably wouldn't be looking at flatwounds. But for flatwounds, they do sound a bit livelier than ones I've used in the past from brands such as Fender and GHS. But for the deep, low, growly sound I was looking for from my fretless bass, these are perfect.

I bought this strings for my fretless Harley Benton. They give very nice full tone, ideal for jazz and ethno stuff. They play soft but they don't rattle when played more agreesive on low action settings. Definetly i will use them in the future.

Outstanding Flatwounds
ProgBass 06.08.2011
Yet so far I have played those Flatwounds only with Fender Precision Basses.
Of course Steve Harris is well-known for using those strings, but as a 110 gauge.
Being new the strings have the characteristic of sounding very metallic with great mids because of the monel on it. The highs will go away while playing for a while. Before you play put some Fast Fret on your strings and they will sound fresh again!! Of course after some weeks this effect won't work, nevertheless the great mid character will stay.

The best flats!

The best flats!
I bought these to use on my Harley Benton JB75. I play reggae and these provide a great sound and feel. If you are looking for that deep flatwound tone, like Aston Barret from Bob Marley and the Wailers, this is it. Add to a jazz bass, roll off the tone, 100% neck pickup and you are good to go!
I havent changed this set yet, after a year and the tone is just beautifully deep and low.

Well im using these for metal and rock with high treble, they are a bit tense but very controllable.
If you are looking for motown kind of vibe and more mellow sounds go for thinner gauges and/or Fender flatwounds, you can use them with more ease. Especially if you have thinner jazz bass style neck.
They are losing their brightness rather quickly but you can use them forever for old school sound.

I like it. It's got a nice warm tone and plays smooth.

Haven't had any cut or flaws on the flatwounds.

Excelent strings
funky duck 23.10.2022
Nice packaging

I have been playing black nylon strings for some time but I decided that this time i would get normal flatwounds since I've missed the metallic sound of bass strings. These rotosound strings sound excuisite, very warm tone and great quality.

I am very satisfied and would recommend these strings to anyone looking for a nice flatwound tone.
