first of all: the quality of the strings I got was top notch!

BUT:
Most people buying these strings are soundwise trying to get into Steve Harris territory. And there is your problem! While you can get the Harris feeling with it, the strings loose their brilliance very quick and start to sound dead. And with this I do not mean a nice flatwound oomph, but plane dead and liveless! Mr Harris seems to change these strings very quickly but I guess he gets a discount on these strings... ;-)
I also do not think that the more "traditional" flatwound user would like these strings. I know better alternatives...

Extremely High Tension

Put them on a HB PB-20. The tension is extremely high for my taste.
On the other hand they are very smooth to the touch.
The price is very high as well!!!
