Ive been using the rovner star on both alto and tenor sax in preference to all my other ligatures for a few years now. It is very cheap compared to many others but cheap doesnt mean bad here. It gives a lot of variety of sound depending on how deep you place it on the mouthpiece and you also have the option of turning it upside down for a brighter sound more like a metal mouthpiece sound. It is very durable and shows no signs of wear even after years of use. This is my go to ligature and for a very cheap price i would recommend it to anyone, beginner or more advanced players. For the money, you really can't of wrong - plays great with the warmth and security of the fabric - but these give you the clarity and precise sound of metal too... well worth the money!
