This Rycote package contains a windscreen and a hand grip with contact sound isolator. Although meant for a Tascam Dr-44 WL the windscreen fits my DR-40 too. Would like to have it little tabs to make pulling the screen over the microphones easier.
(Using the windscreen made me realize that when Tascam designed the DR-40 it seems the idea of using a windscreen, which is a must for outdoor recording, wasn't part of the process. A set of light groves would help to keep the windscreen in place, as well the headphone jack should be in a different position for the reason that it is too high up and interferes with the wind screen. But of course, that is all related to Dr-40 itself ).
The Rycote grip and sound isolator fit essentially any recorder from any brand that has a screw nut. Set comes with adapter nut for different sized nuts. The grip is soft and the whole contact isolator properly isolates the grip from the recorder.
I have tested the whole set outside with and without windscreen and the difference is clear: it works real well in light to moderate breeze.
