I personally prefer dark over light rosin, and you might have to try a couple of rosins to see which one you like or what work for you. I bought this as a replacement for my previous shattered one (dark) and it seems that the texture is quite smoother and the dust a bit finer (which is good because you don't get rosin grains on your instrument and just dust)
