Used this for the first time recently last week, recording vocals in a small-ish untreated home studio room. We didn't have any baffles or duvets handy so we set up the mic with some distance behind the singer, angled obliquely to avoid direct reflections from the walls behind. The Reflexion Filter worked admirably to shield reflections from the walls close in front of the singer. On listening back to the track we were impressed to find the vocal had come out very 'dry' indeed - a great result considering such minimal preparation and effort on our part!
This new 'X' model has more plastic construction than the original one. I have not compared the performance but I was impressed anyway. It must also be lighter, which is an advantage when used with ordinary mic stands. We were able to adjust the position sufficiently for our mic (U47-style valve condenser) though I would think if your mic is particularly tall, and depending on the shock mount, you might wish there was a bit more vertical adjustment (we were at the end of the stops and the mic was just centred ok).
I'd love it if they could make a version with a hinge in the middle or some way to collapse it a bit for storage, it is rather bulky if you don't have somewhere to leave it set up permanently.
