I bought this cable because I wanted to reduce the structure-borne noise of the original black cable that came with my IE-400. Although the original cable works very well, the braided cable is noticeably quieter. It is also a bit lighter, which I like very much. Some people have commented that the braided cable is more prone to tangle. I've found the opposite is true. Everything is very good about this product - except it's a bit expensive!
