I am very please with the SH955 which I now have fitted to an antique ¾ size cello. Having two transducer pickups helps keep the cello bridge firmly in the right position without affecting the normal acoustic performance and the sound quality is impressive for the type of music I play, with the tonal adjustment working well for the instrument.
Clipping to the strings below the bridge is easy, although a bit tight given it is a ¾ size with fine tuning adjusters fitted to the tailpiece on all 4 strings. That said, the foam element of the clamp does help to damp down the slight 'wolf' not I get on my G string. Unfortunately with the preamp mounted in this position, whilst accessible for adjusting prior to playing, it will not fit in the cello case with the preamp attached, so I have to remove it every time the cello goes back in its case and then put it back on before the next playing session, which lengthens set-up time. A better pre-amp mounting position would be on or under the tail piece in my opinion.
Overall sound quality is quite good and more than adequate for my instrument, which yes is the ¾, but one with a very good sound to it. I'm not a concert cellist, so cannot comment if it has what is needed for that sort of use nor how it would perform on a full size, but it is a good investment from my perspective.
