I use the Shure SE535 for research and development in spatial audio (3D audio). They are very good for this purpose and produce a close to perfect impulse response.
For those looking to use for daily commuting, they do take some time to put in, compared to apples new ear buds. But once in, the background noise goes away and all you are left with is the music.
When flying, they are also very good, it does a good job at removing the background noise from the aircraft cabin. They also sit flush with the ear, so that when you rest your head on a pillow, they do not cause any discomfort.
The SE535 loses one star on quality because the headphone cable became faulty at the plug end after 6 months, I believe this is a common problem, according to forums. This was replaced under warranty, I have not had any problems since.
