Use guffer tape instead the moongel (drum snot) doesn't do much difference for the overtones on your snare or the toms, it might cut some of the decay on your cymbals though.!

Having bought moongel with great expectations, i was surprised at their lack of control of unwanted overtones. Difficult to handle, particularly in hot gigs. I have tried other products like Drumtacs and Wincent and I will return to one of those as my first choice
