Thick rubber on the outside, followed by wrapped layer of shielding. After which there is ANOTHER protective layer and two pairs of wires. They are not as well twisted as the picture suggests, but they are indeed twisted around each other (take four wires and twist them, you'll get the idea).
Check the website of maufacturer in case you're trying to make a balanced twisted pair out of it like I did.
Unfortunately, there were no differences compared to my previous no-name cable that came with my Samson Q2U (which I assume to be dirt cheap). But the phone test, when you put speedtest on your phone and move it closer to a mic, proved that I have to pretty much jam it into the new cable for it to start to buzz, whereas with my old one it started humming when my phone was under the table in my pocket.
Not the thing I was trying to fix, but hey, thats one problem down :)
