Relatively large/heavy duty cable with great sound
Kaiviti 30.12.2019
Well, the cable itself doesn't have a sound of course but it doesn't seem to affect the sound of my guitar. I use relatively short cables from the guitar to the first device with a buffer but even so this cable seems great, no detectable colouration or loss.

Previously I was using a Van Damme cable of around the same length which also is very transparent but one minor con with the Spirit cable is that it is a lot more prone to kinking up compared to the Vad Damme cable - that might just be because it is a lot newer and a bit stiffer though. The cable feels pretty substantial, was nice to work with and fits well into the Neutrik connectors I fitted. The cable construction is very nice, great quality with both copper woven screen and conductive plastic layer, no nise or interference at all.

Nice and flexible, good optics to
Jack85 10.03.2022
Bought this one for making patch cables for my pedalboard. The cable is easy to work with, quite flexible and looks better than "standard" opaque cables. No noticeable tone degradation.

S
Great for patchcables ? perhaps a bit stiff for guitar cable
Supercollide 19.07.2016
I purchased a good amount of this and Hicon Angled jack plugs to make custom patch cables for my pedal board.
Other reviews have commented on the stiffness and thickness of this cable and I would certainly echo this. It's not a bad thing at all but you do need to be aware of it.

For me it's currently too stiff to use as a cable from my bass to my pedal board as I move around a lot. It might ease up after a fair bit of use but I?m not going to attempt that (besides I've since gone wireless) but it's great for patch cables and I'm be very tempted to try it for more immobile cables like from pedals to amp.

It also took a little bending to get the patch cables into place but 'wiggling' the cable before soldering it and then again before installing in the pedal board helped. Once in place they were solid, I was tempted to Velcro them down in places but it's not been necessary.

Sound quality is great, it's better or on a par with my guaranteed for life thick (8mm jacket) fender angles plug cables and easily far superior to the moulded patch cables I was previously using.

Awesome quality.

If you look for a quality cable, you can't miss this one.
It has a low capacitance. The copper core conductor has a good gauge with 42 braids of copper (0.15mm, the best you can get). The shielding is good and if you need to point a problem is that it is not very bendable, but that is not a problem for me, only if you want to have short 180 degree turn in a very crowded pedalboard.

One thing that adds to the confidence in this brand: they are not afraid of publishing the cable specs! Other "premium" brands only mention snake oil's features like "gold contacts" but they don't really disclose the real features of the cables, and in the great majority of times it turns out that the cables have poor features.

You can't go wrong with this cable. It would deserve 6 stars if it was possible, i can't recommend it enough.

Good sound and roadproof
Tumbao 05.06.2024
Years ago I dedicated some time and money to test and compare lots of cables for my basses. This cable stood out for me with a clear and balanced sound, especially for this price. It's a bit sturdy compared to others but that doesnt bother me. This cable stands the tooth of time for many years.

Echoing the others - great cable.
tremblox 06.01.2023
+ Really nice cable and great for the price.
+ I love the look - smoky see thro’ makes the braiding look like carbon fibers. A CFK cable:)
+ I have used it to wire a pedal board. Low high frequency loss i.e. transparent (not just optically), and built like a tank.
+ Great shielding i.e. low induced noise if you wire it properly.
+ Just everything you’d want in a cable ….
- ..except that it is stiff as others have said. This is not just a disadvantage as it testifies to the cables robustness. If it cramps your style too much go wireless :)
+ I like most of the Sommer cables a great deal. This is a robust, great looking and “sounding” low-noise cable with great value for money. Pair it with some good Neutriks and make yourself an instrument cable that’ll probably last a lifetime. No need to worry more about cables. Sorry if this review doesn’t bring anything new to the table but believe me, this cable is well ok, ( or in German - schwer in Ordnung).

This is The One

If you are looking to get some quality cable then this is the one to get if you are working - there's all sorts of boutique ones out there - but frankly if this is how you ear a living they are way too expensive. This cable is great for patch cables, leads, and mixer stuff. Very high qulity, very long lasting - the first one I made ten years ago still going. Look no further - match up with some Neutrik jacks - job done.

P
It looks like it can handle some stepping
Pesuseeni 22.10.2018
PROS:
*It has nice epoxy-like feeling from the outside
*seems as it can handle some beating
*insulation is okay
CONS:
*this is no copper wire
*the signal loss is unbelivable

Overall: It seems like it's nicely built, but actually it has a great deal of a signal loss and it's too unflexible for patch use. This renders it absolutely useless.

Very high quality instrument cable. Guitar / bass, it’s all you need. Don’t pay more for a simple cable. This one is the way to go.
