High quality stand, concern about stability
TonyOsax 21.07.2018
I was pleasantly surprised at how light the stand is as it is a substantial looking piece of kit. It's very easy to carry around and easy to erect. It seems to be very well made. The extension pieces move up an down smoothly and I really like the pegs that secure them.

I bought the stand to mount 4 horn PA speakers and chose it because of its height (3m) and the fact that it is rated at 30Kg. My speakers only weigh 13.3Kg in total so I am well short of the rated capacity of the stand. At chest height the stand is very sturdy, but when I raise the T-Bar to its maximum height, the stand sways quite alarmingly. I'm not an engineer so I'm not going to challenge the load calculations, but I'm going to take extra precautions before using it with a crowd, as it appears to be top heavy. It's probably unrealistic to expect a 3m high pole to be completely rigid, but it makes me nervous nevertheless.

We bought two of this for our eight small LED POT lights. It's easy to set-up, stable for our lights even on maximum height, Fits perfectly on our stage and compact for transport and storage. The price is perfect for our budget. overall I'm satisfied and no complaints.

K
Light & Small But Strong
Kevin638 08.11.2013
Once again I find myself somehow compelled to write a review about a product, I had my own music store for many years before I retired so I feel (and hope) that my opinion might be of value to people needing help in deciding what to buy. I was considering buying the heavy steel wind up Stands that I sometimes borrow from my friend but decided to look again. After pouring over the Thomann catalogue I came across the LST-310 Pros, they were lighter and smaller than most others but could handle a load of 30 KG, the only downside being as I like to use my own lighting bars the pole diameter at the top of 28 MM but don't forget they come with their own bars, I ordered them anyway deciding that I could always make an adaptor. When they arrived I was surprized at just how light and compact they were, Ideal for the kind of work I do these days ( bars and restaurants) I put my standard sized fixing (35mm ?) lighting bars on them and was pleased to find that with the fixing screw tightened up there was no need for an adaptor. The one thing that impresses me is that the main joint for the central pole and legs is metal not plastic, in fact magnesium which contributes to the lightness. I am beginning to compromise a little on equipment these days but don't feel that these stands are a compromise at all as they are light, strong and do the job of heavier more expensive stands as they extend to the full 3m.

We use it mainly for 4-member band with four LEDs in live situations. It is much lighter that the old one, we were using. But despite the low weight, it is really stable. And the lengthening mechanics also work perfect. All pros, no cons so far.

Excellent!

Love this new stand. I bought two to replace a very poor quality one by another manufacturer.

This whole stand feels excellent quality. Very strong and with excellent stability. It can extend very high and still feels safe. The little pins to keep the poles up are handy and it means you don't have to over tighten the screw and risk it breaking. They also have a little storage hole so they don't make that annoying noise as you're carrying them.
The central joint feels very strong as it's made from magnesium.
I would highly recommend this stand. It's the best one I have used and excellent value for money.

excellent price/qualitty ratio

good sturdy material, strong enough to carry 4 to 8 light appliances of 3kg each.
My only complaint: the holes for the security screws are not passing through the inner tubes of the stand... you can thus only use them from 2,4m on, not when setting up the lightning at a lower height.

Good build quality, study...
Anonymous 12.08.2014
I was looking for a new lighting stand and was going to get a Doughty, until I spotted this. The stand is extremely lightweight, but still manages to hold 30kg safely - which is enough for some LED PARs or some effects lights - even a couple of Mini Scan HPEs. It has two telescopic sections with locking pins, so even if the lock off nuts become loose, the pole will not drop. At the bottom of the pole's travel there is some foam (or something) so you don't get a clunk as you collapse each section which is a nice touch.

The top T-bar section is sturdy and has 4 hole for attaching your luminaries. However, these are drilled out for M8 / 8mm bolts (provided) and not the more standard M10 fittings. If you didn't want to drill the holes out to take a 10mm bolt for your fixtures, you would need some washers for the supplied bolts.

The stand is very lightweight - much lighter than my Doughty stands, and I would buy a couple more when the time comes to save on weight.

A great item at a good price.

Decent light stand for the price
Anonymous 16.03.2016
I bought 2 of these, and all in all they are pretty decent. It's nice that they are supplied with 4 bolts and wing-nuts to affix lights (although you will need big washers if your lights have large fixture holes in)
My only one gripe is they could be a little wider to allow better spacing of my lights. I find getting 4 lights on there is easier said that done. 2 x-Bricks, 1 scanner and 1 laser. I ended up mounting the X-bricks on top and the scanner and laser underneath them so only using 2 mounting holes, not the 4.
They would be perfect for PARS and smaller lights and bigger ones with a little creativity :)

Overall though, very happy with the stability and for what they cost no complaints here.

Brilliant lighting stand

Really like this stand. Sturdy, light weight, yet takes a good weight of lights and feels to be of excellent quality.
It can go very high yet is still very stable.
Love the pins being attached to the poles so you won't lose them but more to the point they make the use of the stand much safer, with a hole to clip them in so they don't rattle or get lost.
Collapses well so doesn't take up much space in the car.
Thoroughly recommend this stand - best I've used for many years and can't be beaten for price.
