Startone CG 851 4/4 Set 1 NT

I was concerned ordering a guitar so cheap without testing it. But I pulled the trigger and the instrument turns to be pretty decently built.

The action height was adequate.
The fretwork was very good.
The finish was almost flawless except one lighter blemish on the head.

You cannot expect wonders from an instrument priced so low. But it exceeded my expectations.

The bundled accessories are a good addition.
The tuner works well.
I really liked the picks which are textured and have very good grip.
The bag is very basic and can serve only as dust cover. I would not recommend transporting the guitar with it. You'd better get a padded one to provide some protection. But it comes basically for free, so I don't consider it a real downside.

Overall I'm very happy with this bundle. I know the quality of cheap instruments (especially guitars) vary from copy to copy. I hope all copies are built to a similar good standard.

I bought this for a friend who wanted to start learning how to play guitar. And for this purpose, it is an absolutely amazing set, since it comes with all the minimum requirements to do so.

Of course, one shouldn't expect the highest of qualities when paying this kind of price. All my ratings and comments continuously take the price in consideration.

The major flaw of this bundle is the tuner, in my opinion. It is mediocre in terms of functionality, since it takes a long time to detect the played string. A smartphone app has replaced the tuner in an instant, and since it is not the main feature of this bundle, it doesn't devalue it too much in my opinion.

All in all, it is an amazing bundle if you want to start playing guitar, since it's super affordable!

I needed a basic guitar for some jams and this one fits the bill. It's not a Taylor obviously. For the price you can't expect such quality. But for some basic jamming or for a fresh player it's absolutely fine.

It's well made. Frets are well rounded with no sharp edges anywhere. The neck feels as comfortable as you can expect on a classical guitar for the price and it sounds just fine. The string height is comfortably low.

The tuner works fine, the picks are handy and they come in different thicknesses. I didn't need them per se, but they'll come in handy.

The only negative thing I can find is that the bag it comes with fits extremely snug over the guitar. A bit too much for my liking. It fits, but a few cm extra would be nice. But it works, is water resistant and light.

Recommended.

I have purchased many of these guitars (probably 24 in total so far) and have them shipped to wherever I'm going on holiday. I only need a practice instrument while away, and I'd never be giving a concert for obvious reasons. I usually then give them to someone when leaving - much easier than bringing an expensive instrument. I have to say, for the price, they are extremely good an playable right up to the 19 fret. Strings are also fine and considering I'm a professional teacher and player for over 50 years, I'm still amazed how good these are for the price. Certainly for the beginner they are more than worth the money before forking out on a more expensive instrument.
