Very good but has flaws
alex.james 17.06.2019
I bought 4 of these. I also have 4 new K&M 210/2 stands, which I consider to be the absolute top of the standard mic stand arena. Here are my comments about the Superlux MS-108E:
PROS
• The extendable foot is a great idea - so simple, and executed well. I bought them for this purpose alone and have already made use of it. It also tilts the central shaft away from the extending foot thus shifting the centre of gravity slightly which aids its stability.
• It is half the price of the K&M 210/2.
• The fastening mechanism of each screw is similar to most stands nowadays, ensuring no damage to the parts by scraping metal on metal, which is good for longevity (and general aesthetic - black metal with silver scrapes does not look good).

CONS:
• The thread of the mount screw does not fit any cuffs or clip brackets!! This is a MAJOR issue; I don't know how they've managed this as I'm sure it's a universal fitting. It screws in a few millimetres before stiffening and jamming completely. Once jammed it is secure, but needed a pair of pliers to release again.
• The boom arm was not quite straight on all 4 of the stands I ordered. Only slightly but makes a difference!
• The pivot is secured by a handle (like most cheaper stands nowadays), rather than a bar (like in the K&M 210/2), which over time will make securing the boom arm angle more difficult - the extra centimetre or so in a bar allows much more torque and thus much more secure fastenings.

Solid
Anonymous 02.04.2017
I got this microphone stand with boom arm so it can hold my condenser microphone (the t.bone EM9900) for me while shooting videos at my studio. The price was really awesme so I decided to go for it. There was nothing to lose :)
It's actually a pretty good stand. It's build quality is good not the best of course but great for that type of price. The stand is solid, sturdy and most importanlty of course holds the mic without any troubles. That's what a mic stand should do right? And my mic is considerably long. It's also pretty easy to setup and move on with your work. I don't think you will get anything better in that price range so my advice is just go with it and you won't regret it.

Hope that helps you make your decision :)

I recently bought this mic stand, and it exceeded all my expectations. Despite its low price, it works wonders! Highly recommend it if you need a reliable, affordable mic stand!

TL
Hard to beat at this price
The Loun 20.01.2018
I bought this to hold my SM-57 I use for vocals in our band and it does that job fine. My SM-57 mic clip screws on perfectly.

It's easy to use, folds up neatly and has a nifty little clip to keep the cable tidy. Yes, it's plastic but I've seen much worse plastic than this. My cats managed to topple it twice onto a hard, tiled floor, but both times it came out completely unscathed.

If a somebody falls onto it then no, I imagine it wouldn't take a beating like a heavy duty metal one, but at this price why should it?

I gave it 4 stars all round because it's outstanding value for money!

Bear in mind that the screw knobs might not take a severe tightening, but then again, there is no need to, since it holds without such punishment. This is my only point of concern and I'm going to be kind to my knobs since they are clearly not 'heavy duty'.

I would recommend this stand to anyone who hasn't got a small fortune to spend on one. It's hard to imagine anything better for the money. 'For the money' it would be 5 stars, but in the real world you need perspective!

Used in static setup
Patorian 26.08.2020
I used this in a rather static setup, so not much moving around or need for adjustment.

I feel that it would not last that long if handled all the time, but for me it does the trick nicely. Better than other "budget" stands, but not as good as the usual suspects used on stage etc.

Looking for a decent, inexpensive Micro-stand?? You just found it....
pookah 16.09.2018
If you're looking for a really decent, inexpensive Microphone stand, this will do the job very nicely. Suitable for both studio and live-gigs it's a great product considering the price.
Folded down it's compact, light and easy to transport & take on the road. I would happily recommend it.

Pro's:
- Price, at around 20? it's a bargain.
- It's lightweight (only 2KG)
- Easy to assemble / disassemble.
- It's stable and well balanced, even with a weighted microphone & cage.
- Feels solid and durable, even though it is quite light.
- Extendable foot for better balance.
- Rubber stoppers on the feet with decent grip.

Cons:
- Although the main stand is made from steel, the screw-tops are made from hard-plastic, my only concern is these may not age well or stand up to constant loosening-off anf re-tightening, but this is really a minor niggle and is actually the only negative I could find so far. Handled well it should last a while. Overall i'm happy with it!

It does what it says on the tin. I bought these for recording piano and they are long enough for a grand but make sure you have the right connections to hold your mic or else you'll be using selotape. They don't rattle and hum or cause any artefacts in the recordings and are a cheap offering so worth it in my view. Can't fault them for this money. They say buy cheap and spend twice, but this is an exception.

A sturdy and manageable stand.
L1Qu1D 26.06.2020
For the price, it does all it needs to. Has a adjustable lever or winch for every position the mic could possibly need adjusted to - height, angle, depth - without being overly cumbersome or obstrusive in the looks. Also importantly, seems firm and stable enough for the cost, obviously not meant to be forced and it could survive 10 years or more in the right hands, also has a wire clip to holdany loose wires that can easily pop off the stand without breaking concentration. Happy customer again.
