Clicky and punchy
Primordial 29.10.2015
This beater, like the regular felt version, is a medium-heavy beater with one surface. I've used the felt version for years before getting this, and honestly? I prefer the felts feeling more. Not to say this is a bad beater, it isn't. It justs makes the rebound feel unnatural, especially if you have a direct drive pedal. No real downsides except subjective ones really, i feel like it's a good buy if you don't mind the rebound changing a bit. The sound produced by the wood surface is clicky, punchy and hits closer to the mid freqs instead of the lower ones like the felt does.

All in all, a good beater! Test it out before you buy it though.

A
Beater With Punch
Anonymous 22.04.2015
I play with Tama Speed Cobra double pedals, the standard beaters that come with the pedals are soft felt ones. I wanted to get more attack from my bass drums and more punch.

These beaters are really great for providing that extra bit of attack, especially when playing rock or metal without compromising on a big beefy sound.

It does not quite give you the 'click' sound that you hear on metal records, (no beater will) but it definitely gives a small element of it. I recorded with these beaters and tried both my felt and wooden with the wooden ones sounding much much better. Excellent beaters, I highly recommend them!

Needed a beater with a bit more punch at higher tempos. Also destroyed my original cobra beaters after putting a head protector on the bass drum head. Great weight and feel.

A good hard smack,

A great purchase as the beater fits perfectly to my Iron Cobra and gives a really good hard *smack* sound to the kick drum!

Close to being the perfect beater.
Anonymous 28.08.2014
I've always preferred the Iron Cobra beaters, and although they only have one effective batter surface, they're very well made. Having used felt or rubber beaters my whole life, I thought I'd go wood, and I'm glad I did. Nice attack, not slappy, slightly warm. It does mark the batter head of the bass drum, but it can be wiped off.

The beaters Also have little weights in them to make then heavier or louder that you can take out using a drum key plus they've got a nice punch cos they are wooden ones .
