Satisfying, cheap
roccapl 28.11.2020
I moved to Berlin for work and I missed my home studio setup, which I couldn't bring with me. I didn't want to spend a lot, but wanted something adequate for music listening and fiddling with Ableton Live in an apartment. For the price? Absolutely amazing. I had all sorts of cheap and good monitors in my life, but these tannoy are really impressive. Even without sub they are capable of reproducing a fair amount of bass given the size of the speaker, without ever being unpleasant or undefined in the lowest range. Obviously they cannot reproduce sub frequencies: they start a gentle rolloff at 70Hz, but they're perfectly adequate for most situations other than heavy electronic music or film scoring. Also the staging is very good and I'm perfectly capable of distinguish the position and the distance of every instrument in the mix. The frequency response is good at near field listening levels, and I don't feel like the dynamics are too compressed. Keep in mind though, that these speakers are very sensitive and they do not have an input level padding switch. For this reason if you connect them directly to certain sound cards you'll find that they are very loud, even with the volume knob at 0, it depends on your card output level. Solution? Use a mixer in between or a passive attenuator. I had to pair them with a couple of JTS MA-123 (also bought on thomann) to preserve audio resolution of my sound card. With the attenuators they are killer for a home or portable recording/mixing setup.

Very, and very good speakers.
maxvanceffer 17.01.2020
Testing them 3 days in the row. Sound is near perfect. Bass ohhh, very good, you can even touch it. Well made, when you take them in your hand, you will understand that this speakers is something from great quality product. Also very happy about Aux, because I can connect my laptop, and my mixer to them at the same time. When I am mixing, use balanced XLR input, when watching for example movie use AUX. And there look, is very impressive. All my friends, is speaking about them. Luxury stuff, for such money. Sound overall is very good.

Perfect for Monitoring/Classical music
jsfighter 21.07.2020
Bought a pair as piano monitor and daily use speakers. Great positioning and resolution. Very good balance in mid and high frequency, while the bass is not too much but enough for me with great elasticity.

Compared with YAMAHA HS, I got a little less base, similar sound field width and better resolution. The best auditing position is narrower than a two way speaker without coaxial design. Might be ordinary for coaxial speakers since this is the first time I had one.

2* Tannoy Gold 5 + Yamaha MG06X + Roland RD2000/Sony D50/PC

Very good and pretty monitors that need more attention
BidenFTW 06.11.2020
These monitors are such gems. If you have a decent source, it will satisfy your music listening demand. Clarity, sound stage, imaging, resolution are all there and very enjoyable . Its only weakness is the bass response wont go low and leaving you craving for more if you listen to bass heavy genres. There are quality here but lack in quantity.
Then again these are 5inch monitors, you cant get much more here without doubling / tripling the price on the same size. Which is why I decided to go with the Gold 8. They leaves me impressed and satisfied!

As good as it gets
JonasMan 11.06.2022
Very happy with these. Tannoy Golds are the best you can get cheap. Where for example Focals are much more forward and bright, these are just right and with a more spacious and well defined soundstage. They even do music quite well, and could be used in serious hifi-installations.

Very good studio monitors!
Daemonalex777 03.03.2021
I had many studio monitors, but Tannoy Gold 5 is one of the best. Very balanced sound across the entire frequency range. Perhaps the best option in its price range.

Entertainment use in the near field
Kirill Kasatkin 16.04.2022
In general, everything is fine.

There is not enough bass for the entertainment component, 7 gold are needed here, 5 gold cannot dig deep, which cannot be said about mid bass.

Also upset was the lack of an RCA connection and a factory defect with the vinyl film finishing of the cabinets, which in turn began to peel off from the ends of the case after 2 weeks.

But if you are not bothered by these little things and 5 inches are required, this is a good choice )

Excellent Sound and afforable price
Hell Walker 12.08.2020
Excellent Tone balance but lack of smoothness due to this pricing. It is very competitive comparing to other well known speakers. Highly recommend to everyone who is not afforable for purchasing hi end quality speakers with comparable low price.

I'm very happy with them
The Italian Lazy Bass Tard 28.05.2022
Not able to compare A/B with more expensive monitors but these sound superb to me. Also the coaxial design have more precise sound localization. For the price you can't beat them!

Why only use for mixing?
PMin 14.09.2020
I bought these speakers not for mixing but just for HIFI use in my livingroom. And if you look at it that way this speaker is a bargain. You get very good imaging, lifelike voices, instruments sound like they do in real life, snaredrums realy cuts trough when recorded like it. Bass response is great, and very fast/powerful, not booming but realistic. Because of point source dept of soundstage is good, speakers "disappear". Build in Amplifier, options to tune a bit. The finish is great with a retro look. And that for this price, i wonder how they would compare to the KEF LS50...If you like those, surely also give the Gold 5 a listen! Very happy with them!
