Too bassy and mids are too low
Anton K 07.04.2022
I wanted to use these as studio monitors or to listen to vinyl but they produce too strong bass and too low middle range. They are not well balanced. That's why I just use them as tv speakers now.

Great sound, potential for terrible noise
Jummy 07.04.2019
While the sound of the monitors is excellent, and build quality is great, the earlier models of the 402s are notorious for their buzzing, even with no input plugged in. Unfortunately, one of the two speakers I ordered were affected by this issue. It's not loud enough to be heard during louder sections in music, however as dynamics drop, or songs end, it's hard not to notice. Unfortunately, I will be forced to return mine.

My first monitors - a review 10 years later
Daniel Ctr 05.09.2019
Simple speakers with great sound for home mixing. The only setback I find in them is that they tend to roll a bit too much on the mid-lows. Great value, still using them after years.

Edit: It's been 10 years since I bought these monitors, and their fragilities are now clearer to me. Low and low mid frequencies are a mess, with huge problems between 100-200hz that make it impossible to trust these monitors to mix low end properly. I mixed a lot of records in them, but I always had to listen to my mixes somewhere else to get a proper notion. They are not transparent at all in that area, and I've tried them in different rooms, with different interfaces, all the settings you can imagine going through in 10 years. They served me well because they were all I could afford, but I've grown really tired of that boomy bass. I even had to install a EQ extension in my browser so I can cut around 120hz to listen to podcasts or youtube videos.

Construction quality is great, and features would be massively improved with a simple bass cut. Soundwise, I think I've made my point, but I can say that the high end is decent, the mids tend to sound muddy, but again, that is usually just a reflection of that 100-200hz emphasis.

I bought them because the reviews were great, but trust me, try to save for a bit longer and buy something better. Your mixes will appreciate less mud.
