Actually one of the best choices
FotisV 06.02.2020
Ok first of all i just want to say that Thomann is very nice, i made an order and i called them to change the oder, the new order actually costed more and Thomann did it without even charging me the extra money. they where very helpful and they do whatever it takes to please their customers so thanks for that Thomann.
Now about the Tannoy, I know there's a thing about hissing sound that many people talk about and i think i know what is going on. Tannoy reavel speakers come with an aux input for Smartphones, laptops, tablet, and therefore the input is very high or very loud in order to play music from Smartphones that have a very low output so in my opinion this is the reason of the hissing that when very quiet can be heard from almost 1 meter away. after testing a little i realized that if you turn down the volume from the back of the speakers to about 40% the problem is gone and i can still get them to play as loud as their limit with my sound card without even pussing my sound card to its limit. so in my opinion there's not any problem at all as there is not hissing when you set their volume to about 40 % or even a bit more.
The sound is really nice and i don't understand why this speakers aren't very popular, i own Yamaha hs7 that all thay play is midrange that drill your ears and i would say Tannoy are 100 times better, i also owned some alessis and behringer and heard many speakers.
Tannoy reveal 802 sound perfect to my ears of course, the bass very satisfying the trebles are very clear and midrange clear but not harsh. this speakers can play very loud and they still sound sweet without any frequency been annoying or harsh.
for me they worth much more than other studio monitor that are much more expensive.
Thanks Thomann you are the best !

These guys got no shame
Mert Hadimlioğlu 14.01.2020
Hello Thomann community,

This will be my first review and shit I am so happy!

These guys are so heavy, they are each 14 kilos and oh boy you can hear that they are heavy and you gonna like it!

The packaging was perfect, they arrived in big parcels and in it there was another parcel with the Tannoy brand. It took 13 days for them to arrive, and I live in Turkey, so it was super fast. The monitors was looking like untouched and in a super condition. So 5 starts for that too!

When they first arrive to my place, I was kinda scared, because these guys are so big and so powerful. I wanted to try them at their highest voice level, but I guess no one can do that, because even at %75, it was so loud that even the walls were vibrating with the bass. It was like I had to turn them down after this, because I was kinda scared. I did sit in front of them and try to convince myself that I am the alpha of the room, but shit I was wrong.

Low basses are perfect with these guys, and clearest mids and super strong but not too bright highs. I can hear that every voice is coming from another side of the room, so staging is great too!

Only con that I can point out is that there is no bass-trim, but you'll get hi-boost and hi-cut anyways, so there is no actual con!

My next goal is to buy a good DAC and getting ready to stepping up my monitor game, and I will definitely use Thomann for this!

And also I wanted to thanks Thomann for replying my mails so fast, and giving me lots of information on the phone and for being kind all of the time!

5 stars for all aspects!

Extremely satisfied with my 802s
sincraianul 12.07.2017
I've done dozens of hours of research before deciding that these would be my monitor speakers. There's not much info around forums regarding these monitors, but I must say, they did indeed exceed my expectations from the first listen.

The sound is very balanced. Bass extension is decent for the type of music I mix and listen to (garage, indie), so no need for a sub. The best part of these speakers are the mids. They're well defined and natural sounding, without any emphasis. Highs are crisp, without being sibilant.

Stereo imaging is decent, though I've had some weird issues with comb filtering when trying to place them sideways. I realised immediately that they weren't designed to be placed that way, so that's that.

The most annoying thing about them is trying to get the same equal volume out of them (which is crucial to having a balanced stereo image). The volume pot is stepped, but 4 steps on one speaker does not output the same volume as the other with the same volume setting. I found this quite frustrating and ended up adjusting the volume by ear, which worked out fine.

All in all, I think you get more value than you actually pay for, so if you have a nice room to place them in and you don't need advanced HF/LF adjustments on the speakers, don't hesitate to try them out.

Excellent
Krausz 10.07.2015
I've been using a pair of these monitors for months now extensively every day. I use them for mixing and for rehearsal as well. I can give sufficient headroom in a 180 m3 rehearsal space with both volume controls on approximately 4. The sound is crystal clear, and well balanced. I used the stereo patch cable form one monitor to link it to the other monitor, and the other patch cable to link it to my Tascam mixer. No noise whatsoever even with the volume past 50% on the mixer. The other thing which excels beside headroom, clarity and balance is the bass response, which is not lacking - like any other monitor in thus price range or below, Tannoy's smaller monitors included. I am a picky amateurs musician, but a 45+ years experienced audiophile. This pair of monitors can be used to listen hifi as well. Of course due to its flattish line of frequency response it won't enhance anything, so one has to have a good source to it. Obviously it won't replace a good pair of ears, so do not expect to be a professional mixer just because you've got a good pair of monitors. I surely would not go below this quality [as I've seen in lot of semi/professional studios] but also would not go above this bill range, which I would consider a waste of money.
