Let your creativity flow

Loopers have been a very hot item for a few years now: Thanks to the impressive YouTube performances of countless artists from all over the world, these devices have become something of a “must have” for guitarists and bassists. The ability to successively layer multiple tracks on top of one another opens up entirely new avenues for solo artists and those who aspire to be so. The only thing that can sometimes be a drag is the lack of intuitive operation, and that is precisely where TC Electronic’s Ditto Stereo looper comes into its own: The Danish company, which is famous for its innovations, has reduced the pedal’s user interface to one switch and one control knob, thus eliminating any unnecessary obstacles standing in the way of artists’ creativity. Thanks to its stereo design, the Ditto can also be combined with other stereo effects such as choruses and delays, though of course mono operation is possible as well.

All the controls you need

The Ditto Stereo Looper features a standard effect pedal format, and its robust metal housing means it is ready for the rigours of everyday on-stage use. The Ditto Stereo boasts an unlimited number of loops as well as a total of five minutes’ recording time, and the pedal delivers uncompressed sound quality with a 24-bit resolution. The central control knob adjusts the volume of the loops that have been recorded, while all of the pedal’s other functions – such as recording, playback, stop, start, delete, undo, and redo – are activated by pressing and holding the footswitch in the required manner (long, short, etc.).The Ditto Stereo’s USB connection allows data to be exported from and imported to the pedal (e.g. Star Jam loops), and to avoid colouring the tone of the instrument, the Ditto Stereo features true bypass when switched off and an analogue dry through when active.

Great for solo artists, great for YouTubers, great for everyone

TC Electronic’s Ditto Looper is aimed at guitarists and bassists who want to create multi-layered soundscapes and effectively become their own one-man band – something that can be done at home, on stage, or in YouTube and Instagram videos. The Ditto Stereo makes it possible for everybody to deliver a complete performance without needing any other musicians to do so. And the simple and intuitive user interface with which TC Electronic has designed this pedal is aimed squarely at players who want to get started right away without having to read endless instructions or work their way through complicated sub-menus.

About TC Electronic

The Danish company TC Electronic has been known for its innovative products for many years. It was founded in 1976 by brothers Kim and John Rishøj in Aarhus. The company first made a name for itself with the SCF, a stereo chorus/flanger pedal for guitar. Studio equipment followed during the 80s and 90s, notably the legendary TC2290 digital delay in 19-inch rack format. Since the 2000s, TC Electronic has greatly enriched the guitar and bass scene with amplifiers, cabinets, combos, and effects pedals. Here too, TC's innovative spirit is in evidence, for example with its TonePrint technology and the first polyphonic guitar tuner. TC Electronic has been part of Music Tribe since 2015.

A useful practice tool

Loopers are generally associated with players who superimpose several tracks on top of one another to create complex, multi-layered musical pieces – impressive and inspiring examples of which are on display on video platforms like YouTube. But loopers can do a lot more: Among other things, they can be a helpful tool in your day-to-day practice routine and make certain other auxiliary devices obsolete. For example, a looper can be used to record a short, percussive guitar or bass loop that serves as a metronome or drum machine. Chord sequences can also be looped in order to provide the necessary harmonic context for getting to grips with note theory or for improvising. These are just some of the many ways in which a looper can help players to practise more easily and more effectively.

simple! great!
Jon fungus 24.05.2020
Having tried many loopers over the last 20 yrs, this hits the nail on the head for me!
If you want simple, quality loops this is the one. Its great for home practising and working out solos.

I am using it in an acoustic duo to provide backing to do some lead breaks. I have also used it in stereo to loop bass guitar then put acoustic guitar over the top.

pro's
Affordable
Simple to use
Easy to get in time loops
Great sounding

con's
You can only delete the most recent loop, (i think?) so you cant turn off every loop until your back to one. Its fine for me as i never loop more than twice live.

Double click to stop can be a bit tricky? (especially as i play kick and tambourine with my feet) A separate stop switch would be nice but i think thats the next model up!

V
Great looper
VinceJanssen 29.04.2019
This looper is really high end. There are plenty of functions all controlled by the single knob. I haven't even fully explored them all. The sound quality is really good. There is basically no difference in sound between the input and output. Loopers are a great tool for layering live tracks on stage, I found a lot of inspiration in my songwriting as well.

Another thing really usefull about this product is the stereo output jacks. I only use the mono input, but the sound still splits to the stereo output jacks, which means you can use a stereo amp setup without buying an aditional ABY box.

The build quality is solid, as to expect from TC products.

I'm very satisfied by this product and I would recommend it to anyone who's searching for a good quality looping pedal.

A
A must have!
Anonymous 17.01.2017
***Updating review after using for a few weeks.
Anyone with a pedal board should own one.
So much fun for the bedroom guitarist.
Will help me learn and keep it fun.

Pros
Stereo output/input if using two amps (or guitars)

Ability to load loops (and save loops) using USB connection

Cons
Minor issue-
Only one loop can be stored at a time. This means if you want to change a backing loop you are jamming with you have to reconnect to the pc which can interrupt your flow.

Worth upgrading
Donalw 29.09.2017
I had the mono looper and wanted to upgrade for a stereo rig. Worth the extra cost for my needs. great quality with both I have owned, flawless reproduction of sound and simple. The only problem is the lack of a dedicated stop switch as found in the larger models. That's the only gripe I can have with this pedal. Great practice tool to get the ideas flowing
