A nice little fantom powered mic for acoustic guitar. It works particularly well when used in conjunction with an under saddle piezo pickup adding more body and 'air' to the sound.
The Good:
- Pretty resistant to feedback at moderate levels
- Cheap (very cheap compared to some of the competition)
- Good basic sound and not as boxy sounding as some 'in body' microphones
- Gooseneck gives good flexibility for sound hole positioning
- Fairly well constructed
The not-so Good:
- Attaching securely to the guitar can be a fairly fiddly process and the material the clamp is made from isn't great for gripping gloss surfaces
- The very thin cable is vert delicate and too easy to snag
- Not super high fidelity; I would not use it for recording
Overall:
Recommended, given the price, but with some reservations.

Quick and versatile for most occasions

Not sure if a mad rocker running about will be able to use this. BUT IT IS GREAT FOR ALL OTHER USES...Seems to grip any instrument we have tried it on and the musicians do not complain.

A good value but imperfect solution to mic placement for acoustic guitar
Dan P. 12.12.2013
This is the best of the various 'external-mic-on-guitar' solutions I've tried.
Using a PRA383-D, I modified the clip, exchanging it with a kitchen cupboard hook sucker. It stays on glossy guitar tops (most of the time). This one also stays on as much of the time but doesn't look as crap. The problem is that it's hard to see where you can put it without the risk of knocking with your body - the long bit sticks out behind the body of the guitar, against your hip/belly, with the risk that you send it flying off the instrument. Build quality appears good.

Good value

A reasonable quality clip for acoustic guitars. The clip can be a little bit fiddly attaching it and I found the rubber feet coming off quite easily but this is only a minor issue. It does feel a bit tender, like it could break easily, but is otherwise excellent value for the price.

Ovid Guitar clip
Johnf52 07.08.2015
In all honesty, a little cumbersome for its purpose. The Ovid mic capsule component fits neatly into the clip, but the "look" when fitted to the guitar sound hole looks somewhat "clunky". The mic gives a really nice round overall sound, its just the look is a bit off. Cant overly complain though as the Ovid set of various clips for use with the one capsule unit is extremely flexible.
