Simple reed for double reed situations
Vandewolken 08.06.2020
I don't use these in a normal way. I play directly with my mouth, using these reeds on hand made aulos-like instruments. I choose to use them because of the various "gigging" conditions where I feel cane reeds would break, and that is how I started by playing directly on the reed with my practice chanter. They sound good enough for my uses, the price is correct, but unfortunately the quality is not consistent: some reed are better made than others. the winding doesn't end in the same place, etc. However, in all, a good reed for practice chanter and experimentation.

Good value. Works well enough.

This reed is pretty much identical to other plastic bagpipe chanter I've bought. Quite possibly, they all come from the same factory. It is about half the price, or less, of buying one on ebay though - provided you're not paying the postage for it specially, of course, and you're ordering other things at the same time.

I only own a practice chanter, not a set of bagpipes, so I'm no expert. It does what I need it to do; it's durable, and it won't go mouldy. I also own an oboe. I use cane reeds for that, and they do go mouldy. The plastic ones I've tried for the oboe don't cut it, but a Scottish style bagpipe chanter only has to play a little over an octave, so this one's fine for that.

I can not reccomend this product, as it started breaking soon after it was bought. I got it with the Thomann Mc Mini Dudelsack, and was not too happy with it.

It was only cheap and you get what you pay for.

The build quality is terrible. The two reed halves don't even line up properly.

Being playing daily with this reed for three weeks now. The reed does it job and I didn't notice any change in the sound in spite of my continuing playing. It makes a tight seal around the chamber.
