I have a Hercules stand for 3 instruments that is holding (with extension kits) 3 basses and 2 guitars without a problem. I recently found myself needing another stand to hold my Harley Bentons. Since these are cheap instruments, I thought I would buy this Thomann support for them as it is less than half the price of the Hercules and I have always been satisfied with Thomann items in the past. That was a mistake!
On the Hercules, the locking mechanism is, 1) strong and 2) held in place by the weight of the guitars. This means an instrument cannot fall down on its own, the design of the support just doesn't allow it.
On the Thomann, the locking mechanism is reversed, which means that the weight of the instruments is working against it and could make it release and fold suddenly with all instruments crashing to the ground at once. That almost happened today. The Stand had been supporting 2 guitars and a bass for the last several weeks, today I put a second bass on it, for a total of 4 instruments and the locking arm on the left gave up suddenly. Thank goodness the one on the right didn't otherwise I would probably be gathering the broken pieces of my instruments right now...
Needless to say that this is unacceptable, the stand can simply not be trusted! I managed to fix it by using some PVC duct and zip-ties which looks horrible but holds the entire contraption firmly in place.
I CANNOT recommend this guitar stand, it clearly needs a re-design!
