I was advised by the good folk at Thomann that this guitar case would fit the jumbo electro-acoustic that I was purchasing at the same time, and they were, of course, correct. In fact, it fits beautifully.
The exterior is finished with a tolex-type covering that appears to be thick enough to resist most scrapes and knocks, and is finished off with attractive white stitching.
The carrying handle is comfortable, although I would have preferred it to be situated a few inches lower, ie on the outside of the upper bout rather than between the bout and neck, but that's probably just me!
The case has four latches in total, three on the handle side and one on the lower bottom bout. The middle of the three latches also has a 'lock' with supplied key. However, the 'lock' is easily opened with a nail file or similar small blade or screwdriver. I would hope that in the future a better, more secure 'lock' could be used, even if it added a little to the price of the case.
On the subject of security, I noticed recently by accident, that with the case closed, I could easily insert my fingers into the case on the hinge side. (I didn't want to damage it by trying the get my whole hand in!)
It appears this results from the case being fitted with only two hinges that are some distance apart.
It may be that the shape of the case limits the number of hinges, in which case, I would suggest an additional latch between the two, preferably lockable for added security.
The interior is very nice, finished with a heavily padded velvet-like fabric and the usual neck support/accesory compartment, which provides ample space for packs of strings, picks and other necessities.
I wasn't expecting Fort Knox security or the ability to withstand being run over by a steamroller, so I'm pleased with this purchase and for the price being asked for this case, it's a good buy. However, if the security issues were addressed for a small increase in price, this would be a great buy!
