Harley Benton PB-Shorty BK Standard Set 1

I thought that this bass set was a very reasonable price. When I first started playing bass I got this as a starter. It was good that the set included the amp, the guitar lead and the strap too as it saved other prices. Honestly I have played better basses and the action was not great but It was great as a starter because it gets your hand used of the frets. After saying this though the guitar came very well set up by thomann and the intonation was perfect. The amp did exactly as it was supposed to great for practising and a very nice sound in comparison to other amps. I would defiantly recommend this bass set to any other beginners.

At this price the outfit is unbelievable value for money. I have quite a few guitars but this is my first bass. I did plenty of research so I had a good idea what to expect - I had to do a bit of setting up to get the best results. When I received the package I noticed that one of the pickups was sitting too low, and when switched on the lower two strings were far too quiet to balance with the top two. As a result the whole outfit sounded quite distant and lacked power. Simple to sort out - I took the cover plate off and moved the bass pickup around by 180 degrees, which brought it up to the correct height. Then I replaced the strings with GHS flatwound stainless, tuned up and switched on. Wow - it sounds great now, half power is quite enough for my house. This thing sounds like a bass should - I love it. Just budget for better strings - mine cost 35% of the cost of the new outfit - something is wrong in the world's economy surely? Anyway well done Thomann - great value and very quick delivery to UK yet again.
